On November 1, 2015 I posted that there is strong evidence that Star Wars Weekends would be going away. Well, today, Disney confirmed that Star Wars Weekends will not be offered in 2016.
In a post from Disney Parks, they were outlining the upcoming opening date of December 1 for Jedi Training Academy: Trials of the Temple, the upgrade for Star Tours with new destinations
and the opening of Star Wars Launch Bay and the addition of the film clips I’ve mentioned before as Star Wars: Path of the Jedi that will be in the ABC Sound Studio next to the Frozen Sing Along.
Disney’s official statement concerning Star Wars Weekends cancellation:
“And work begins next year on the 14-acre Star Wars-themed land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. With construction underway, unfortunately, we won’t be able to offer Star Wars Weekends. While Star Wars Weekends has been a great way to enjoy the saga for a few days every year, now the Force will be with Disney’s Hollywood Studios every day.”
Well, not exactly the same to receive Launch Bay with 2 characters, and a film clip that will go away. Farewell to all those great character meets. Post your thoughts here and on my Facebook page. I told you months ago it was going to turn into “Star Wars Weekends light.” Season of the Force is not supposed to feature all the great characters and celebrities we’ve come to love.

I was planning on taking my children this summer. We went in both 2014 and 2015, and now finally had the chance to return but with this news, we won't even be coming to Disney. Do they still do the Star Wars Breakfast at the Sci-Fi Dine In, or is that gone too? What about the Jedi Training Academy?
Pure crap move by Disney.

This was removed because they tore down the Backlot to build Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land. Still have Jedi Training.

We went at Christmas 2015 and the things they have at Hollywood Studios is a few picture opportunities the way you do with other characters and a few storm troopers wandering around but my 19 year old was not that impressed with what they had to offer. The movie clips they mention was nothing special and the launch bay is more of a retail experience.Very disappointed with what they had to offer that they say is new.Does not compare at all to the weekends.
