Updated 3/9/15

The most important part of a great day at Animal Kingdom with no waits is to arrive at least 45 minutes before park opening.  If you arrive a little later and see the turnstiles already full, you might want to use the Rainforest Cafe entrance.

ktp iconThis plan was designed to be able to see all the major shows, ride every ride and meet every character in one day from 9:00 to 5:00 PM without much backtracking or rushing around.

Why is Kilimanjaro Safaris first on the list?  Because the animals are moving about and eating early in the day and you’ll get to save your Fastpass for another attraction.  The worst time to ride the Safaris truck is mid-day because it’s hot and the animals are sedentary and hidden in the shade.

If you aren’t using FP+ for Finding Nemo the Musical, you should plan to arrive 15 to 30 minutes early.

If you aren’t using FP+ for Festival of the Lion King, you should arrive 30 to 45 minutes early.

This is an amazing site!! I am a little overwhelmed but you seem to have it down to a science. I will be there in January 2015 for the 1/2 marathon and staying the week after - does it normally lighten up a bit after race weekend?! we'll only be there for the week and i would like to see as much as possible! Thanks :)

Yes. Parks won't be crowded after race weekend. Really aren't terrible during the weekend either.

Whenever I click on the PDF link, it is telling me that the page can't be found. Is that just an error on my end?

Crystal, I'm not sure what the problem is for you. Try refreshing the page. I just checked and it popped right open for me.

Thanks! Warm weather plan is about to post, but it's only a slight change and my Animal Kingdom for Families with Little Children plan should be up this afternoon

Thank you so much for your site, (& this post!) We are a family that loves rides & wants to meet characters. I was having a tough time trying to figure out how to fit both in. (Lots of the touring plans out there don't seem to include the option for character meets.) I have a lot of planning ahead of me before we take our first trip to WDW this December, & thanks to your site & app, we should be ready!

Welcome Sharla. Hopefully all the plans I'm creating will help you plan a little less: I'm posting different options for Animal Kingdom before moving on to other parks.

I'll develop new plans that include Festival of the Lion King after it opens and I can judge the crowd flow. Usually mid to late day though.
