How to Use Character Locator in your Every Day Life

How to Use Character Locator in your Every Day Life

For a stress-free Disney or Universal Studios vacation, let the FREE expert planners at Royal Carriage Vacations take care of every detail including dining reservations, applying discounts, and onboard cruise credit.

We all know about the great features of Character Locator and how it can enhance your visits to the parks. Did you also know that you can use it in your every day lives? Did you know it can actually still help you, even though all of the parks are closed right now?

If there was ever a time to have the Disney blues, it is now for many guests across the country and maybe even around the world since for the first time in history all Disney theme parks and resorts are temporarily closed.

While the closing of the theme parks and suspension of Disney cruises might be what people call a “first world problem,” it’s still disappointing to have to cancel a trip. It’s okay to be sad about it. We at KennythePirate definitely get it.

If you are a frequent reader of KennythePirate (thank you!), then you are hopefully also a subscriber to Character Locator. If you are not, you should be!

A special message from KtP

So far, we have outlined how to use both Character Locator and My Disney Experience together to make your trip that much more magical. We have explained why it’s better than using pencil and paper and have listed so many reasons why you should subscribe to Character Locator.

Now, we are going to tell you how to use it every day and why we think it might be useful to many people, particularly now because we have suddenly all found ourselves with a lot of extra time on our hands and a lot of time spent at home.

How can I use Character Locator Every Day?

One day, I was browsing posts in our Facebook crew as I often do. I like to see how we can help our fellow crew members, and many times, other members have helped me immensely in all of my trip planning.

5 hidden Treasures of the Magic Kingdom

There is almost always someone out there who knows something I had not known about before or knows a great tip that ends up really helping me! I cannot thank all of our awesome crew members enough for all of their great Disney knowledge!

As I was reading through the posts, one caught my eye. It was at the very beginning of the concerns over coronavirus. Schools had just started to close slowly one by one. Many parents were suddenly facing the overwhelming task of homeschooling their children.

KtP crew member, Kelley C. Sapp, had this post in the group… and I thought it was great!

“I was trying to brainstorm a more flexible homeschool schedule for a preschooler and kept struggling with how to organize all my thoughts… “man, I should just be able to sort and shuffle this….”

Then she posted the following picture.

Making Lists

Look how perfect it is! It’s neat. It’s organized. It’s in order. It’s on your phone, so you can carry it around with you all the time. What can be better than that?

Character Locator is a fantastic way to organize lists and make schedules. Thanks, Kelley for the great tip! Kenny himself has even mentioned that he uses it for non-Disney trip planning, and why not? It’s a great idea.

Chat Room

We know that all of you miss the parks. We know many of you are probably either rescheduling trips or planning future trips. Now is the perfect time to make those plans and talk with some fellow Disney lovers about all of your plans.

Character Locator has a chat room! Here, you can chat with fellow subscribers. This is the spot to be if you are a subscriber, and it’s also the place to go to if you have any questions or tips to fellow members that cannot be discussed in the regular Facebook group or on the Facebook page. Don’t be shy. Ask a question or find out something new. You might even make a new friend!

Trivia

Did you know there is a trivia game in Character Locator? You might find that you suddenly have a whole lot of downtime. Normally, this feature might come in handy while you are waiting in line for a ride at one of the parks. Now, if you find yourself bored and have nothing to do, play a few rounds of Disney trivia!

Try to beat the high scores. If you want a real challenge, try to beat the highest scores of all time! I will tell you right now that I have not come anywhere close to the highest scores myself. Some of those questions are pretty tricky!

Trip Planning

This is a no brainer. We already know Character Locator can help with your trip planning. If you are a new subscriber or maybe you have had it for a long time and have never been able to really dig into all of the features of it, this is the perfect time to do just that!

Explore all of the tabs. Figure out what places you want to see. Think about which rides you want to go on and study those tabs! By the time the parks reopen and you are on your trip, you will be the Disney expert and you can amaze all of your friends and family with your awesome Disney skills.

Ride Videos

After many places closed due to coronavirus, I was seeing a number of posts on various forms of social media from other news outlets talking about Disney ride videos. Local news stations were airing segments like, “Did you know you can watch videos of different rides from Disney theme parks?”

I kind of rolled my eyes at all of those stories, because this was nothing new to me. Ride videos have always been a feature in Character Locator and Kenny has all sorts of different videos of the rides and shows from the parks on his YouTube! You can check them all out right here.

Many ride videos are also featured within Character Locator. If you are missing the parks, take a peek and watch some! We also shared a virtual day in the park using a Character Locator plan and KennythePirate POV videos!

How you can give back

I have listed many different ways you can get the most of Character Locator even without the parks being open right now. Hopefully, you found some useful tips or maybe you found something out that you did not know before.

If you feel pretty good about it and want to help Kenny and the rest of the writing crew, you can help too!

VIDEO: Disneyland Bids Farewell to Guests on Final Night Before Closure

How? You can read Kenny’s special message he posted a couple of weeks ago. He lists several ways in which you can give back and help him during this difficult time.

Subscribe to Character Locator if you are not a subscriber right now. I can guarantee you myself, that you will not be sorry. My trips would not have been the same without his tips! I would not have been able to meet the characters, go on the rides, or experience so many magical memories that my family has had throughout the years without it.

Right now is a great time to subscribe too because he is offering a special discount of 15% off the regular price! On top of that, he is offering the subscription or renewal for 15 months, when it is usually only for 12 months. I think it’s a win!

Just as the Fairy Godmother says in Cinderella, “Even miracles take a little time.” It might be frustrating now having to cancel a trip. You might be feeling pretty sad you missed out on celebrating a first visit or special birthday. Don’t lose hope.

The Hidden Details in Character Costumes

The parks will reopen. Cast Members will return. Disney Cruise Line ships will sail again. Guests will return to the parks and the ships. We will be posting about parks closing due to park capacity during the holidays. The magic will return and people will be worried about crowd levels rather than social distancing. It all takes time and once they reopen, we will be right here.

Are you a subscriber to Character Locator? Will you subscribe if you are not? Tell us about it in the comments or on our Facebook page. Don’t forget you can join our crew on Facebook too and tell us about it in the group!

My subscription ends in 125 days. Can I still renew to take advantage of the discount? If so, will it renew 15 months from today or 15 months from my actual expiration date? Thanks!

Hello, yes! You can still renew. It will renew 15 months from your actual expiration date.
