Peter Pan & Wendy Darling at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2012

Rumor Round up: Peter Pan and Wendy may fly again, Mickey held up and Noah style Princesses

(Rumors: There is no guarantee that anything will happen at Walt Disney World until it is officially announced or actually happens and is subject to change at any time without notice)

Peter Pan and Wendy - Fantasyland 2010

Peter Pan and Wendy – Fantasyland 2010

According to Attractions Magazine’s official Twitter account @attractions, Peter Pan will begin meeting with Wendy again beginning this Sunday at the extended queue for Peter Pan’s Flight in the Magic Kingdom.  Other reports have them landing near the Adventureland entrance on the Frontierland side.  I guess we’ll see soon what happens.  As you can see in the photo above, Pan and Wendy used to meet next to Philharmagic before it was transformed into a magic portal for Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.  It was a great location with shade a nook for a line and Tink was there above them.

Mickey Mouse in Animal Kingdom 2010

In other news the new Mickey & Minnie meet to be known as The Adventurer’s Outpost in Animal Kingdom is expected to open on May 15th instead of the original target date of May 12th.  Eeyore will still be leaving the park with Donald & Daisy moving to Discovery Island Boat Dock and Pooh and Tigger taking over for Mickey and Minnie in Camp.   Pocahontas recently made ANOTHER move.  This time she moved to Discovery Island CAMP MINNIE MICKEY (effective 5/12/2013).  We met Mickey and Minnie in Camp together by being the first to arrive :)

I just realized that I hadn’t actually posted about the new Princess meet and greet that will be coming later this year.  It was reported on numerous sites that the meet will offer two separate lines (each with FP+) that will feature Cinderella + one other princess and Rapunzel + one other princess.  Guests will know exactly which extra princess they will meet with before entering the queue.  Aurora will definitely be in the rotation and I fully expect Snow White not to have a dedicated meet and greet in the Magic Kingdom after the change.   Merida will be staying in her location and the new “Frozen” princess will end up with a new location.  I haven’t heard of any plans to cancel Tiana or Jasmine’s regular meets in the Magic Kingdom yet.  Jasmine has made random appearances at Town Square Theater, especially in the evenings.

I’ve also heard that Sofia the First will not begin appearing until “Fall.”  Initially it was reported that she would begin in “Late spring.”  If Fall is correct, it MAY point to Sofia taking Wreck-it Ralph’s location as it would be a full year for Ralph and Vanellope.  Ralph wasn’t intended to be a very long-term character.  He’s already been retired from Disneyland.

Chip n Dale to appear as Ewoks for Star Wars Weekends!

ThemeParks4Life ‏@ThemeParks4Life on Twitter tweeted to me today that Chip n Dale will begin appearing this year at Star Wars Weekends! I had noticed that they were prominent in the artwork and merchandise, but didn’t put too much stock in that because Donald Maul was featured last year and never appeared in the park. It was the same stormtrooper Donald that normally appears. Let’s hope this is true and we can see them out for SWW in unique costumes that resemble these. I also wish they would bring back R2MK and Mace Windu. Wouldn’t it be cool to see Han Solo???

Rumor: Three Caballeros may meet for Limited Time Magic

I was told last week that Panchito Pistoles and Jose Carioca will join Donald for Limited Time Magic at Epcot’s Mexico pavilion to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.  I heard that this will begin on May 5th and run for a week.  These don’t come out often, so be sure to visit them if you are in the area if this event comes about.

This hasn’t been confirmed by Disney

Rumor Round Up

Belle’s new style

Belle’s new dress, hair and accouterments premiered at Disneyland on the date that I had previously announced, but she will not receive the new look at Walt Disney World for a week or two.   I would expect her to wear this attire at Enchanted Tales with Belle and Akershus character meals.  Her dress is more of a light gold instead of the bright yellow.  I like the new look.  What do you think?

Belle to receive new gold dress.

Disney is continuing its plans to recreate all the dresses that the Princesses wear in the theme parks. The trend began with Cinderella receiving a new look for her meet and greets. On or about February 3, 2013 Belle will receive a new gold ball gown, hairstyle and accouterments. She typically only wears the gold dress at Enchanted Tales with Belle, so it would be my guess that this would be the only location to see her in this new outfit.

More evidence that points to Pinocchio’s return coming soon

pinocchio

You may recall that I recently posted that Pinocchio is strongly rumored to return to the Magic Kingdom very soon.  Well, I was poking around the new Disney World website and found the page that had this information.  Why the website builder continues to use such random photos with descriptions is strange to me, but the info is clearly there that Pinocchio will soon return to Fantasyland.  Some may say that this is left over info from last year, but this is a totally new website and Pinocchio was retired from Main Street and the map clearly points to his meeting at Pinocchio Village Haus.  The description also describes it as “A charming village NEAR THE WALLS of Cinderella Castle is home to a LITTLE WOODEN BOY.”  The walls didn’t exist when Pinocchio was retired and there’s only one little wooden boy.  Looks like we’ll be seeing Pinocchio soon.

RUMOR: Merida may be retired from meet and greets?

merida banner

Update:  Merida will continue to offer meet and greets for the foreseeable future.

I’ve heard a rumor that Merida may not continue meeting in the Fairytale Garden soon.  The rumor has it that Merida may be retired sometime in January, 2013, possibly on or around January 1.  Rememember, this is a rumor, not confirmed news as of yet.  Her triplet bear brothers Harris, Hubert, and Hamish were retired a couple months back from the Play and Greet and guests were told after the retirement that it was pre-planned to offer them only for a short time.  Merida remains a popular meet and greet, so it certainly would not be a matter of a lack of guest interest.  Some believe it could be because Merida’s accent is incredibly difficult to master.  Merida’s character was played by Scottish actress Kelly Macdonald.

I searched upcoming face character auditions for Walt Disney World and saw no calls for Merida.  There are calls for Alice in Wonderland, Rapunzel, Cinderella, Jasmine, Ariel, Snow White, Mulan, Tinker Bell and Periwinkle among the female actresses.  The lack of auditions doesn’t necessarily point to a retirement though because other face characters aren’t listed including Belle, Tiana and Mary Poppins for example.

Possible date for Wreck-it Ralph’s first appearance

I’ve been hearing “late October” for the first appearance for Wreck-it Raplh and Vanellope for a while now, even though the Disney blog announced his appearance as beginning in November.  Recently, I was given the date of Sunday, October 28th as Ralph and Vanellope’s first day to meet and greet guests at Hollywood Studios Magic of Animation, where Winnie the Pooh used to meet.  Stitchkingdom.com has also heard the same date, so I feel reasonably comfortable releasing that date.  Delays can always occur, especially when dealing with a refurb for an area, but that’s the date I’ve heard Disney is shooting for right now.

Rundown of possible September 30th Disney World character changes

Animal Kingdom

Update:  Pooh characters remain in their place and Camp Minnie Mickey will stay at least until Fall 2013

Rumors have been that Winnie the Pooh an the Hundred Acre Wood characters will be removed from the Animal Kingodm.  This move is to provide space for some of the  characters from Camp Minnie Mickey while the new Bazaar area is being constructed.

Epcot

  • Marie will definitely move to Magic Kingom.
  • Beast has been heavily rumored to be removed from Epcot  but the date is unconfirmed (plausible)
  • Stitch  will need to move or be removed at some point to make room for construction to begin on the new Epcot Character Spot, which is right behind where these characters currently meet.

Hollywood Studios

  • Mrs. Incredible will be retired from the scheduled meet at Magic of Animation.  Mr. Incredible will then meet only with Frozone.
  • Winnie the Pooh will definitely leave the Magic of Animation in order for the area to be remodeled into Wreck-it Ralph’s new meet area.  Rumors have it that Winnie and the gang might be leaving the park, but that is unconfirmed (but highly plausible).  It is known that two character attendant positions will be cut from the next budget, so the assumption is that it is the Pooh characters that are being cut.  Stitch would make good sense to me, because he is the least popular of all the hat characters.

Magic Kingdom

  • Pete’s Silly Sideshow will begin soft openings. Daisy, Minnie, Goofy and Donald will relocate to join the circus and take on all new costumes in this brand-new indoor character meet area.
  • Marie the cat will relocate from France in Epcot to the Magic Kingdom flag pole.  She will take Daisy’s vacant spot and meet next to Pluto.
  • Prince Eric  will be retired from the schedule and will no longer meet at the Adventueland Verandah.  Ariel will continue to meet alone until she moves to her new Grotto and takes on fins again.
  •  Chip n Dale will move from Tomorrowland to Frontierland to fill Donald’s vacant spot.
  • At this point it appears that Goofy’s spot at Pirates of the Caribbean may go unfilled.

Beast (Dinner only Be Our Guest)  and Gaston (regular in park meets) will be added to New Fantasyland once the area opens to guests in November.

There could be additional changes coming to which I’m not privy

Wreck-it Ralph and Vanellope VonSchweetz confirmed to be coming to Hollywood Studios

Wreck-it Ralph

The Disney Parks Blog has confirmed the rumors that this blog has been posting for some time that Wreck-it Ralph and Vanellope VonSchweetz are indeed coming to Hollywood Studios this fall.  Their blog states that the characters will be arriving in “November.”  I’ve been hearing for a while that the characters would arrive in late October.  Either the characters are being delayed a bit or the late October timing is more of a soft opening?  The actual movie opening date is November 2, 2012.

Here’s a description of the meet and greet that comes from the Disney Parks Blog:  “Wreck-It Ralph” is going to be great, and meeting Ralph and Vanellope in the parks will be just as fun. At The Magic of Disney Animation attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll step through Game Central Station, catching glimpses of the various game worlds from the film on your way to “Sugar Rush,” where Vanellope and Ralph are waiting to meet you at the finish line.

Winnie the Pooh will cease meeting guests in the Animation area in October and is supposed to rejoin the other Hundred Acre Wood characters for meet and greets at the hat in the mornings.
