Hollywood Studios has become the park for massive changes over the last several months. We’ve seen the closing of the beloved Backlot area and construction of Toy Story and Star Wars Lands, the removal of several character meets, addition of Star Wars themed shows and fireworks. Next up we’ll see a new Christmas themed fireworks show. In addition to all of that, over the next few months we’ll see the addition of a new Quick Service food area.
Over the summer Hollywood Studios tested several temporary food kiosks that were known as Echo Lake Eats that were received pretty well by guests, but created some congestion around the lake area during busy times. They were located near Dinosaur Gertie.
Well, Hollywood Studios is currently removing the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame that contained the famed bust of Walt Disney and other TV legends. Many guests would stop there and take selfies with Walt’s bust while they were touring the park.
The removal is part of Hollywood Studios plan to create a small Quick Service food and beverage area that will be known as a “marketplace.” Construction walls are currently installed in the area and the expectation is to have the new marketplace ready in the coming weeks for the park’s overloaded Quick Service locations.
For those not familiar with the area, the new Marketplace will be to the left of the large theater that now houses the Frozen Sing-a-long. If they install a temporary structure, it could be completed by Christmas. If they opt for a permanent structure, it could be a few months.
