What You May Have Missed in the New “Solo: A Star Wars Story” Trailer

What You May Have Missed in the New “Solo: A Star Wars Story” Trailer

May 25th is just around the corner and soon we will be able to see our favorite scruffy-looking nerf herder and his wookiee companion back on the big screen for another adventure! Yesterday we were given another trailer packed with more glimpses into where it all began for our favorite smuggler, Han Solo. Here’s what you may have missed:

“I’ve outrun Imperial Crusiers.. I’m talking the big Corellian ships”

The trailer opens with our first look at Han’s home planet, Corellia, which you may recognize from many references throughout the original trilogy and the Star Wars canon. Corellia is an Imperial occupied planet famous for it’s shipyards and the ships it produces, specifically one YT-class freighter, the Millennium Falcon. Han even makes mention in “A New Hope” to Obi-Wan that the Falcon is fast enough to “outrun Imperial Cruisers, not the local bulk kind, I’m talking the big Corellian ships”.

“Big Shot Gangster”

Until recently, Paul Bettany’s involvement in the film was speculated to potentially be Lobot, Lando’s associate on Cloud City from “Empire Strikes Back”. We now have a first look at Bettany’s character, underworld crime lord, Dryden Vos (no relation to Jedi, Quinlan Vos). It is unknown if Dryden Vos will be the main villian alongside Enfys Nest and her Cloud Riders, but with Vos being the one providing the job it is likely things may go sideways for Han and crew as these things usually do.

The Mythosaur?

The trailer shows Han and Chewie walking up to what may be our very first glimpse at an actual Mythosaur skull, never before seen in Star Wars canon. The Mythosaur was an enormous creature native to the outer rim world of Mandalore and is represented on Boba Fett’s shoulder armor. Additionally, in a recently released Denny’s commercial described as the scene where Han wins the Falcon, one quick shot shows some of the currency up for grabs branded with the Mythosaur skull possibly being Mandalorian currency. It’s worth noting that the main villain of the film is still unknown. “Boba Fett?! Where?!”

Christmas Special Family Reunion?

There is a lot of speculation around how the movie will handle how Han met Chewie, one of which theory Han frees Chewie from Imperial slavery in which by wookiee custom, Chewie owes Han a life debt. In a quick scene during the trailer, Chewie is seen with another wookiee he seems to be close with. Could this be a member of his family? Or even Chewie’s wife. Malla, from the Christmas Special that everyone wishes they could forget?

The Spice Mines of Kessel

This trailer is full of stunning visuals, one such visual shows the Falcon flying over the planet Kessel. Kessel is famous for it’s spice mines controlled by the Pyke Syndicate, as well as it’s ideal and dangerous smuggling route, The Kessel Run.

“You look good.”

Not only do we learn Chewie’s age in this trailer, but this discovery also let’s us know how “long, long ago” the Solo movie will be set. In the trailer, Chewie tells Han he’s 190 years old, 10 years younger than he is in “A New Hope”, making Han the same age, 19,  as Luke and Leia will be when they first meet. The trailer also hints at that we will be seeing Han’s start as a smuggler with Beckett telling him that once he starts this life he can’t go back. A true origin story.

What did you think of the newest “Solo: A Star Wars Story” trailer? Are you excited to see the film? What was your favorite part of the trailer? Leave a comment and let me know!

May the Force be with you always!
