The Disney Wonder is one of 4 Disney Cruise Line ships that sets sails on the high seas. This week’s sailing greeted its guests with many new enhancements throughout the ship. A brand new New Orleans styled French Quarter Lounge, the newly re imagined adult space, Cove Café, and last but not least, a transformation in Vibe, a hang out area for teens ages 14-17.
A couple of years ago, one of the many renovations on the Disney Wonder was the addition of “Tiana’s Place Restaurant,” which brings the Disney animated feature “The Princess and the Frog,” to life. Therefore, it was no surprise when Disney Cruise Line announced its plan of adding a New Orleans style French Quarter Lounge mere steps away from the restaurant.

According to Disney Parks Blog, “the centerpiece of the beautiful and exciting changes throughout the ship was unveiled — French Quarter Lounge. Here, the wonderful world of Princess Tiana comes to life in new ways with the addition of this New Orleans-themed lounge that transports guests deeper into the heart of the city’s iconic French Quarter.” What better way to get you in the New Orleans kind of mood then to visit this new jazzy lounge right before dinner or throughout the day as guests will be able to enjoy New Orleans-themed family activities, trivia, character meet-and-greets and music.
As always, the Disney touch and amazing attention to detail can be found throughout the brand new jazzy lounge from the full sized street car which is the same trolley that Tiana rides in the film to the bar which serves as the focal point with its wrought iron adornments and shutters.
Disney adds that “In addition to offering specialty cocktails, nonalcoholic beverages and coffees, the bar also displays elements inspired by the popular character, Dr. Facilier. A mural on the wall is painted with Dr. Facilier’s shadow and his business card from the film – another cool photo spot! A door in the area is based on the entrance to Dr. Facilier’s shop, with signage and three flickering “candles” overhead.”
Let’s move on to another newly enhanced area around the Disney Wonder that will make many adults happy when they hear the words, “kid free areas.”
Cove Café, has received an update as an “exclusive retreat redesigned as a coffee shop for world travelers, complete with warm, comfortable and trendy décor. With ample, seating and ocean views, Cove Café is the perfect place to sip a specialty coffee or tea throughout the day, and indulge in wine or a cocktail and light bites during the evening hours.” The adjacent Signals Bar, also in a kids free area, has also received an update with a similar look.
Lastly, we can not forget about teens ages 14-17. Disney Parks Blog revealed that Vibe received a contemporary update which allows teens to hang out with their friends in an “open, bright redesign that includes framed quotes on the walls, a light color palette and metal work. A new coffee bar and updated virtual reality technology add to the list of activities just for teens.”
Don’t delay in boarding your cruise on the high seas on the Disney Wonder which offers a variety of itineraries and ports of call throughout the year. For the first time the Disney Wonder will sail to New Orleans in 2020 as well as recently announced that it will also return in 2021.
Which of the many new enhancements and renovations are you most looking forward too on the Disney Wonder?
