Rise of The Resistance Opening Day Boarding Passes

Rise of The Resistance Opening Day Boarding Passes

Rise of the Resistance at Walt Disney World held the Grand Opening Ceremony last night for media, and we got a sneak peek via Disney’s live stream.

Today’s the day this first-of-its-kind attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, debuts at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the public.  Read here for opening day details.

How is Disney going to handle first day crowds, and will the ride run smoothly or be plagued with shutdowns? Disney has created a way to lessen wait times (in theory anyway), and help ensure guests get a chance to ride today (hopefully, but Disney says it’s not guaranteed.)

Virtual Queue Details

If you plan on experiencing Rise of the Resistance, no matter if you’re partial to the Light side or the Dark side, Disney will be using a virtual queue to manage crowds, and hopefully reduce wait times.

You’ll Need My Disney Experience App

For those going to Disney’s Hollywood Studios today, make sure you download the My Disney Experience app before you go to Hollywood Studios.

Once you enter the park, open the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge section and go to “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Access by Boarding Group.” Click on “Find Out More.” The next screen will share the current boarding status of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

If boarding groups are available, tap “Join Boarding Group.” There will also be a display indicating which boarding group may now enter the attraction.

Boarding Passes

Kenny is among the EARLY morning crowd to be one of the first to experience Rise of the Resistance. He shared that there are actual boarding passes being assigned (see below at 5:26am). Keep a watch on Character Locator and Kenny The Pirate’s site for his insights and experience!

Additional Information About Virtual Queue:

If “Join a Boarding Group” is grayed out, that means the boarding groups are full for the day and are no longer available.

As long as your My Disney Experience account is linked to park tickets for you and the others in your group, you’ll be able to enroll everyone in the virtual queue at the same time. (Took the screenshot below before park opening. Check My Disney Experience throughout the day to see updates.)

Turn on Notifications

Make sure notifications are turned on for My Disney Experience so you will be alerted if your boarding group is called to return.

You’ll have up to two hours from the time of the alert to go to the entrance of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

Once there, you can expect to wait and spend some time getting immersed in the story and soaking in the rich details before experiencing the attraction.

Please note that joining a boarding group does not guarantee the ability to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

If you have any questions or need help with the virtual queue, members of the Guest Experience Team are available throughout the park to assist.

Disney states, “We’re using the virtual queue because we expect this ambitious new attraction will be very popular. It’s safe to say, there is nothing in the world quite like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.”

Watching the Livestream dedication and sneak previews last night has me even more excited about Rise of the Resistance.  I cannot wait to experience this one-of-a-kind immersive experience. Were you able to experience this ride, or do you plan to ride soon? Please share your thoughts here.
