Are you a Disney fan? Do you often find yourself visiting Walt Disney World, Disneyland, or maybe even sailing with Disney Cruise Line? Do you love shopping at shopDisney or seeing the traveling shows, like Disney Jr. Live or Disney On Ice? If so, you might consider having a Disney Visa Card. Read on to see how it could benefit yourself!
Disney Vacations
Cardholders can enjoy benefits at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Disney Cruise Line and other U.S. Disney Destinations, such as Aulani in Hawaii or Disney’s Vero Beach Resort and Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort.
Character Experiences
There are many benefits cardholders have at Walt Disney World Resort. One of them is character experiences. Private meet and greets are available to cardholders at Epcot and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios by just showing your Disney Visa Credit Card to a Cast Member for entry.
The Disney Visa Photo Spot at Epcot in Future World is located next to Journey Into Imagination with Figment. During one of our recent trips, we visited this location. The process was easy. I just showed my card at the entrance and we waited no longer than ten minutes, enjoyed a break from the heat, and had a meet and greet with both Minnie and Pluto.
Guests visiting Hollywood Studios are also treated to a private Cardholder location at the Star Wars Launch Bay in the Animation Courtyard. Guests can meet Darth Vader. Times at each location vary and they are also listed in Character Locator. Cardholders receive one complimentary photo download of the meet and greet.
Other Discounts
Other discounts at Walt Disney World include the following:
1. 10% off select merchandise purchases of $50 or more at selection locations
2. 10% off select dining locations
The list of dining locations include but is not limited to Biergarten Restaurant, Rose & Crown Dining Room (lunch only), Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen, Boma – Flavors of Africa at Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas, The Wave… of American Flavors at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Grand Floridian Cafe, Tiffins, and Hollywood & Vine.
A full listing of participating locations and restrictions can be found here.
3. 15% off the non-discounted price of select guided tours
Some tours included are: Disney’s Family Magic Tour, Disney’s Keys to the Kingdom Tour, Behind the Seeds, Wild Africa Trek (Mid-Day Tours only), Star Wars Guided Tour, Ultimate Day of Thrills VIP Tour
4. 10% off the non-discounted price of select recreation experiences
These include carriage rides at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Horseback Trail Rides at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground are also included.
5. 15% off select spa and salon locations
Locations included are Senses (Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa), Zahanati Massage & Fitness Center (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas), and Salon by the Springs at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
6. 20% off entire purchase at Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company (excludes alcoholic drinks)
7. 10% off select purchases at House of Blues Restaurant & Bar, Planet Hollywood and The Polite Pig at Disney Springs
Cardholders are also offered similar benefits of the above when visiting Disneyland. Benefits can be found here.
If you find yourself on a Disney Cruise, you can also benefit from being a cardholder! Cardholders receive:
- 10% off select Disney Cruise Line Digital Photo Packages
- 10% off select merchandise purchases of $50 or more
- 10% off Castaway Cay Getaway Packages
- 20% off select onboard spa treatments.
Complete details on cruise line benefits to cardholders can be found here.
Shopping
Cardholders save 10% off every day on select purchases at Disney store locations and also save 10% on select purchases at shopDisney.com. All you have to do is click on “My Bag” and add promo code DRVCMEMBER to have your savings applied.
Entertainment
Do you enjoy seeing the Disney shows on Broadway, such as The Lion King, Aladdin or Frozen? Cardholders receive many benefits for these as well! I know in the past I have been given opportunities to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the public.
Cardholders can also redeem their Disney rewards towards movie tickets at local AMC Theatres. I actually just redeemed some points toward some movie tickets to see Frozen 2 again!
Other perks include limited-time offers, such as various room rates, 20% off select Disney On Ice tickets, and collectible pins.
For example, at the time of writing, one of the limited time offers is cardholders can receive up to 40% off on room rates at the all-new Disney’s Riviera Resort at Walt Disney World, which just opened on December 16th. More details regarding this offer can be found here, and it is available for only a limited amount of time.
I think that’s a great offer, so if you are a cardholder you might want to check that out!
Airline Travel
Lastly, if you have the Disney Premier Visa Card, then you can redeem your points for a statement credit toward airline travel. This is probably one of the benefits I have used mine for the most.
It’s a great feeling booking a Disney vacation and not having to pay for any airfare! There are many other options for saving on airfare that might be a better fit for your family, but I use this benefit quite often.
This card does have a $49 annual fee, while the Disney Visa Card does not. The card also offers 0% promo APR for the first six months following the purchase date on select Disney vacation packages or purchase of a real estate interest, including Member Add On, in a Disney Vacation Club Resort. Certain term conditions do apply. A writer wrote about what the Disney Vacation Club is all about here.
I find many benefits to having this card and I love all of the different card designs! I cannot tell you how many conversations my card has started just because of the design.
From vacations to merchandise to entertainment, it offers a lot of perks to cardholders and if you love Disney, it is easy to find something that can benefit yourself. A complete listing of all perks and details relating to the card can be found here.
New cardmembers earn a $50 statement credit after a first purchase with their Disney Visa Card. Premier Visa Card holders can earn a $200 statement credit after spending $500 on purchases in the first three months from their account opening.
Are you a Disney Visa cardholder? Do you use any of the benefits listed above?

WOW! That is amazing! We use our card for everything each month and pay it off as well. Just went to WDW 3 weeks ago and paid for a lot of the trip with points. And have already earned 104 points since then from cost of trip, expenses there and monthly bills! WIN-WIN!

I find the Disney Store savings very frustrating. There are more restrictions than there are allowances.
