The torches that were used in IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth and currently being used in Epcot Forever are undergoing maintenance. This will affect the upcoming showings of Epcot Forever. Read on for details.
There are 19 torches surrounding the World Showcase lagoon, representing 19 centuries. Earth Globe represented the not-completed 20th century, but it was retired and taken down.
The torches have been around since IllumiNations debuted 20 years ago and are also currently being used for Epcot Forever. The fact that they won’t be used in upcoming shows gives us a clue that they may be used for HarmonioUS when it comes to Epcot later this spring.
Refurbishment for the torches began today and go through the end of this month. As a result, the torches will not be lit for the upcoming Epcot Forever shows.
This will affect the overall show since the torches won’t be used. However, I personally wouldn’t let that stop me from checking it out.
What will the new HarmonioUS nighttime spectacular be like?
Contrary to what the name Epcot Forever signifies, this show is not permanent. It will be replaced by HarmonioUS.
HarmonioUS will celebrate how the music of Disney inspires people the world over, carrying you away harmoniously on a stream of familiar Disney tunes reinterpreted by a diverse group of artists from around the globe.
The show will feature massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics, lasers and more.
It is said to be the largest nighttime spectacular ever created for a Disney park. I can’t wait to see it!
Epcot Forever will end and HarmonioUS will take over beginning in the Spring of 2020!
