runDisney Virtual Series Themes Announced

The themes for the runDisney Virtual Series have been announced! Get your running shoes laced up!

Have you been wanting to try a runDisney event?  Not only are the race registration fees expensive, but then you’ll likely have to travel and find a hotel for your race.  If you want to add park time too, you’re looking at one expensive race!

Would you like to try a runDisney event without the hefty price tag?  runDisney has just the thing to cure your runDisney race FOMO (fear of missing out).

Every summer, runDisney hosts its Virtual Race Series.  To take part in a virtual race, all you’ll have to do is sign up and complete your distance within a specified time frame.  You can run or walk outside, on the treadmill, on a track, or anywhere, as long as you complete the distance.

Virtual 5ks are a great way to ease into running or to have fun training for upcoming runDisney events.

This year’s runDisney Virtual Series will take place June 1-August 31, 2020.  Each of the three races will be the 5k distance. (That’s 3.1 miles.)

Virtual Series Themes

This year is the 5th year of the runDisney Virtual Series, and to celebrate, runDisney is honoring fan-favorite Disney Parks attractions.  Attractions were voted on during the 2019 D23 Expo.  

Let’s take a look and see what themes the virtual 5k races and the runDisney Virtual Challenge will celebrate.

Looks like June’s 5k will have a Mad Tea Party theme.  

Next up in July is a Space Mountain Theme.  

August is looking spooky! We’ve got a Haunted Mansion themed race here.  

If you’re up for a challenge, you can complete all three races for the Virtual Challenge, which will get you a special medal.  The theme for this challenge appears to be Disney Ticket Book.

Registration Details

The registration fee includes:

• A downloadable, customizable bib
• A medal
• A downloadable finishers certificate.

The completion of the races are on an honor system; you do not need to submit any official proof to runDisney.  Medals will be shipped to the address used in registration.  

Although Disney has not yet released pricing for the Virtual Series, last year’s prices can help us get an idea of what we might be looking at.  

In 2019, the runDisney Virtual Series was Marvel themed.  Each race was priced at $40, and the challenge race was $145.

Registration will open in March 2020 for all runDisney Virtual Series events, so be on the lookout for more details soon!

The different themes give us a good idea of what the medals will look like for this summer.  I am thinking that a Haunted Mansion medal will make a fun addition to my collection of running bling!
