If you’re hoping to eat at Space 220 on an upcoming trip, you may have to wait a little longer. Read all the details below…
We’ve been waiting in anticipation for Epcot’s newest table service restaurant, Space 220 to open. Originally, we had hoped it would open on 2/20/20, but unfortunately, it has been plagued with various delays.
Entering Restaurant
Space 220 will be located next to Mission: SPACE in a newly constructed building. Disney is calling it “an extension of Mission: SPACE.” We’ve been watching construction for months hoping to be one of the first guests to dine here.
Menu
Per disneyworld.com, “Upon your arrival, you will dine from a menu featuring modern American cuisine, more than 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest wines, and a wide selection of craft beer.”
Theming
As you dine, peer out and enjoy amazing daytime and nighttime views of Earth from 220 miles up. Pretty cool how they tied that in, don’t you think? You’ll feel like you’re in a space station!
When being seated, you’ll pass a “grow zone,” which is a spinning wall of produce, giving you the feeling of the Earth’s gravity. The menu also features fresh produce, and they extend that to the theming.
Rumored Delay
The latest forecast opening date was March 30th which a fellow writer reported here. According to wdwinfo.com, a large pane of glass was broken during construction (Yikes!).
The new window is a custom item that will take 8 weeks to special order. It was also reported that the roof may need to be removed to install it. If this has to happen, the new rumored date is April 6.
As soon as we have any further updates, we will be sure to let you know. We’ll also post when Advance Dining Reservations become available to this highly anticipated restaurant.
