As Disney theme parks and shopping areas are currently closed and Disney hotels are preparing to close, many are concerned of when Disney will open back up. runDisney has released a statement regarding the Star Wars Rival Run Weekend.
Star Wars Rival Run Weekend is fast approaching. The event is scheduled for April 16-19, 2020.
Many are concerned for their run-cation plans as Disney is currently closed. Disney hotels are closing as of 5 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020.
runDisney has posted a statement to runDisney.com. Here is what it says:
in an abundance of caution, we have previously announced the closure of our theme parks and hotels and other guest offerings. regarding the star wars rival run weekend, we continue to monitor the evolving covid-19 situation and are in regular contact with state and local authorities and health agencies. we will share updates about the race weekend here. please continue to check back and visit cdc.gov for the most up-to-date INFORMATION on covid-19.
I am hoping that this means good things! It would be great if Disney could re-open before race weekend so that the race could go on as planned.
runDisney is going to be in close contact with the CDC to keep the race going if at all possible. We recently released information that Disney could be closed through mid- April. Disney HAS NOT released any information regarding an opening other than April 1, 2020.
Disneyland has released spring discounts on stays starting April 19, 2020. With these new deals, I would believe that Disneyland plans to be open by then.
I am staying optimistic that the parks will be open sooner rather than later. I hope that the parks are up and running by mid-April even if there are modifications in place.
