Disney Vacation Club has recently made updates to their point refund policy. Read on to find out more information.
DVC has closed all properties at Disney World, Aulani, Vero Beach, Hilton Head Island Resort, and Disneyland. This is effective through the end of March.
Disney Vacation Club has continued to adjust their decisions based on the guidelines of health agencies and their medical teams. These decisions are made for the safety of their Members, Guests, and Cast Members.
Member Services is expecting a high volume of calls in the days to come. They encourage Members to use the website for general information, and only to call Member Services if you need assistance with an existing reservation.
Temporary Updates to Cancellation Policy
Any reservation that is scheduled for arrival during the closure will be automatically canceled. You will not need to cancel the reservation online or need to contact Member Services.
The DVC website states:
To make the process of changing RESERVATIONS as smooth as possible, Disney vacation club has lifted the close-in reservation cancellation RESTRICTIONS and will return any of your points back as vacation points or reservation points without placing them into holding. borrowed vacation points returned due to cancellation of a disney vacation club resort reservation will not be placed in holding and will be returned to the use year they were borrowed from…
We understand this is of particular concern for Members with reservations affected by closures and/or the COVID-19 situation who may be toward the end of their Use Year. We are, however, currently evaluating various options to assist Members in this situation, but will need to delay any decisions until we better understand how long Covid-19 will impact our operations.
There have been NO CHANGES to their Points banking or expiration policy due to the impact this could have on future inventory availability. If you are concerned with points expiring, I would reach out to Member Services.
Do you have a DVC vacation affected by the closure? What do you think about this new information? Let us know on the Kenny the Pirate Facebook page. Don’t forget to join the KtP crew page too!

It's not robbery. The resorts are uninhabitable because of an emergency, just like if a building were lost to a fire. All of us DVC members are now experiencing a "Loss of Use" for property we own because of this emergency.. and since we own the timeshare, we are going to take a loss on the inventory that cant be used. You should read your DVC contract as there are specific provisions there explaining exactly what will happen to our DVC points when rooms are lost to a casualty. Unfortunatly, this is yet another in the long list of economic losses all of us will endure until the country as a whole can reopen safely.

I booked Disneyland hotel for march 20 and used 147 points for 3 nights.I never used points as reservation points before cause I only stay at my 3 home resorts .My reservation was canceled sue to coronavirus and the closure.Dvc now tells me they can't be returned. To my dvc points because I can only use them now as reservation points which I will never use.I want them to go back to the original way I used them .This was not my false and I didn't cancel .Very disappointed.
