Do you agree with my rankings of every single Walt Disney World ride?
For no other reason other than being at home for 5 weeks is getting the best of me, I have decided to rank every single ride at Disney World. I miss Disney so much, as I’m sure most of you do too!
I’m ranking each ride, which means I’m leaving shows and parades out of the equation. I know shows and parades are also considered attractions. However, for the purposes of this article, I am leaving them out.
I am basically going off most of the attractions in Kenny’s “rides” tabs for each park on Character Locator.
If you don’t have Character Locator, or you need to extend your subscription, now is the perfect time! Currently, you can get 15 months of top-notch park planning for less than a corn dog at Sleepy Hallow.
You can see his special message including the discount code HERE. He also outlines some ways you can continue to support the website while the parks are closed.
I’m basing my rankings off a few factors:
- Thrill (does it get my heartbeat going faster?)
- Nostalgia (does it make me want to cry?)
- Level of entertainment (does this excite me, or am I bored?)
- Motion sickness (do I want to pass because I don’t want to lose my lunch?)
Let’s get started!
Epcot
- Soarin’
- Test Track
- Frozen Ever After
- Spaceship Earth
- Journey into Imagination with Figment
- Living with the Land
- Seas with Nemo and Friends
- Gran Fiesta Tour
- Turtle Talk
- Mission: SPACE (green first, then orange)
I chose Soarin’ as my favorite Epcot attraction because it hits all of the above factors I am looking for. The thrill of soaring over the Earth coupled with the landing back at Epcot and seeing the fireworks at the end gets me in my feels.
Most of the rides at Epcot are boring if I’m being completely honest. It’s my least favorite park. I rode Mission: SPACE one time, and then I swore to myself I would never ride it again. Even riding the green side with motion sickness pills, I felt so awful afterward.
My favorite part about Epcot is the World Showcase! I love walking around grabbing a snack from each country. You can check out some bucket list worthy Epcot snacks to check out during your next visit!
Animal Kingdom
- Flight of Passage
- Expedition Everest
- Kilimanjaro Safari
- Na’vi River Journey
- It’s Tough to be a Bug
- Kali River Rapids
- Dinosaur
- Triceratop Spin
- Primeval Whirl
Flight of Passage is my favorite ride at Animal Kingdom, and Expedition Everest comes in very close for second place. Flight of Passage is so immersive, and even though the preshow is a bit cheesy, it really brings you into Pandora.
Plus, I can’t even begin to describe the actual ride! I gasp and squeal during the entirety of the ride.
You may be surprised (or not) that I put Dinoland attractions in the last three places. I really don’t like that area of the park. The rides are too carnival-like for me, and I think it would be so cool to reimagine the space as Lion King. It could even be named “Pride Rock.” Do you agree with me on this?
Hollywood Studios
- Rise of the Resistance
- Tower of Terror
- Rock n Roller Coaster
- Slinky Dog Dash
- Toy Story Mania
- Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
- Alien Swirlin Saucers
- Star Tours
*Please note I had to leave Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway out of my rankings because I have not experienced that one yet!
It kind of goes without saying that Rise of the Resistance takes the top spot for my Hollywood Studios list. I couldn’t catch my breath during the entire experience! It blew me away how immersed I was in the Star Wars experience.
Tower of Terror and Rock n Roller Coaster come in next. Both have the thrills, but Tower of Terror holds a little more nostalgia for me.
Star Tours comes in last because it makes me very motion sick!
Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom has the most attractions of all 4 theme parks, and ranking them takes a bit more thought and effort. Plus, it’s so hard to choose! I’ve never really sat down and picked my favorite Magic Kingdom ride before.
- Big Thunder Mountain (watch a virtual ride through HERE)
- Space Mountain
- Carousel of Progress
- Haunted Mansion
- Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train
- Peter Pan’s flight
- PeopleMover
- Jungle Cruise
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Splash Mountain
- it’s a small world (watch a virtual ride through HERE)
- Mad Tea Party
- Dumbo
- Tomorrowland Speedway
- Barnstormer
- Prince Charming Carrousel
- Buzz Lightyear Ranger Spin
- Astro Orbiter
- The Many Adventures of Pooh
- Magic Carpets of Aladdin
- Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid
It was really hard to choose between Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain. I’ll never forget the first time my daughter rode Big Thunder Mountain, and that nostalgia is why its #1 in my book. It was her first real roller coaster, and she loved it! It made me so happy as a mom and Disney fanatic.
I love Carousel of Progress for the nostalgia as well, and the Haunted Mansion Cast Members are my favorite part of that ride.
