With the stay at home order expiring soon, Governor DeSantis will announce plans to reopen Florida.
Governor DeSantis shut the state down earlier on April 2, after both Osceola County and Orange County did the same. The order is set to expire on April 30.
The state has been busy with plans to get the state up and running ASAP. Florida income relies heavily on the tourism industry, and they have been hit especially hard during the pandemic.
Last week, Universal shared plans for new precautionary measures that may be taken to get the park reopened safely and efficiently. This included mask wearing and employees staying home if they are ill.
Just today, the Orange County Economic Task Force held a meeting where they outlined initial guidelines for various industries to follow when the state does reopen.
Among the guidelines mentioned were taped markings to maintain social distancing, wiping down surfaces more frequently, and reopening the parks at reduced capacity.
in addition, employees at theme parks will be required to wear masks and stay home if they have a fever of 100.4 or higher. Hand sanitizing stations will also be stationed at every ride entrance and exit.
DeSantis will make an announcement tomorrow, April 29, with his plan to reopen the state of Florida. We may hear a reopening date and social distancing guidelines remaining in effect.
However, it is important to note that just because the state of Florida will likely reopen does not mean Disney World will be on the same schedule. There are still a lot of logistics to work through to ensure proper measures are taken and that Cast Members can be trained on these new policies.
The Orange County mayor did mention in the meeting today that he is hopeful Disney World will reopen in June, and that it is more likely to happen then than in May.
As a reminder, Disney World is currently accepting reservations for June 1 and beyond. If you will be traveling this summer, be sure to check out the free dining offer available to guests who had to cancel their vacation plans.
