In a recent interview, Mayor Jerry Demings shared when Disney World would share reopening plans and dates!
The Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force is the organization responsible for approving theme park reopening plans and getting businesses back up and running in Orange County.
The Head of the Task Force is Orange County Mayor, Jerry Demings. Also in the Task Force are business and health officials, and they have been meeting often during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Just recently, we learned that theme parks would begin to share reopening plans now that the state is moving to the next phase. In order for a theme park to get approval for reopening, they need to submit a plan and date to the Task Force.
Once voted upon, the plan gets sent to Mayor Jerry Demings and then Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for final approval.
Universal Studios presented their plan for reopening yesterday, including an early June reopening date. You can read about the proposed reopening date HERE and the protocols that will be implemented to ensure a positive and healthy guest experience HERE.
Now, in an interview with CNBC, Mayor Demings shared when Disney World will be sharing their reopening plan.
See the full 5-minute interview below:
Demings stated: “Disney has given an indication that next week they will submit their plans. Once they do, we will schedule that for a full briefing with our Economic Recovery Task Force…we do look forward to hearing that next week.”
Of course, we will be tuning in to this meeting and will share any and all information Disney shares with the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force.
It also goes without saying that just because they present their plan does not mean it is automatically approved. It will still need reviewed by both Demings and DeSantis. We will likely see many of the safety procedures that have been put into place at Disney Springs.
