“Nothing can stop us now….” Well, except, maybe one thing. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disneyland has been delayed. Read on to see just how long you will have to wait to ride this wild ride.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway opened in Walt Disney World on March 4, 2020, which was actually later than the expected fall of 2019 opening. There was no reason given for the delayed opening.
The attraction was only open to guests for a little over two weeks, and then due to the unprecedented park closures, guests had to wait even longer to experience the new ride.
It was also announced that the ride would also arrive to Disneyland’s Resort inside ToonTown in 2022. Similar to Rise of the Resistance, the ride will be identical to the one that is currently in Orlando, Florida.
Runaway Railway
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway takes guests inside of a Mickey cartoon on a wild ride! You really feel like you are inside of the cartoon with Mickey, Minnie and all of his pals.

Delayed Opening
Yesterday, Ken Potrock, Disneyland President shared his “Happiest View on Earth”. It was a special peek and video of the construction of Disneyland’s Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
He informed guests that the attraction is scheduled to open for guests in 2023.
“I am thrilled to share my “Happiest View on Earth” with you today, a special peek outside a window at our Team Disney Anaheim building. This particular view offers a behind-the-magic look at a momentous milestone that happened today at @Disneyland park – the first steel beam has been placed for what will be the future Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction, scheduled to open for guests in 2023!”
Ken Potruck – Disneyland President
No official reason was given for the attraction’s delay, but it is most likely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Disneyland also remains closed at this time, and no reopening date has been given. We will continue to monitor the progress of any plans for reopening as more information is received.
If you cannot wait until 2023, guests can experience Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway now at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando. It is currently one of the park’s most popular attractions and one of my new favorite rides!
Have you been on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway? What do you think of the delayed opening in Disneyland? Tell us about it in the comments below or on our Facebook page.
