With so many delays, we’re thrilled to announce the latest rumored guidelines for Disneyland’s possible re-opening. Read all the details here.
Roundtable Re-Opening
On August 28th, Governor Newsom conducted a roundtable addressing reopening guidelines.
Newsom shared, “We are trying to accommodate for some of the other amusement activities in this state. You will be getting that as soon as we work through that…we are actively looking at where we land on that.”
Press Conference
During this press conference Governor Newsom shared that they did not yet have a reopening plan for Disneyland and other large amusement parks.
He shared that that these reopening plans would be “forthcoming – it is a very dynamic conversation.” Read additional details here on the Press Conference and Disneyland’s call to action.
Call To Re-Open
Earlier this month, CAPA urged Governor Newsom to issue reopening guidelines for the California based Theme Parks. CAPA executive director, Erin Guerrero stated:
California’s amusement parks urge the governor to issue amusement park guidelines expeditiously so these vital community attractions can reopen their doors in a responsible manner and get residents back to work.
Josh D’Amaro, Disney Parks Chairman, also recently urged Governor Newsom to allow Disneyland Cast Members to return to work. Check out details from a fellow writer on Disneyland call for re-opening.
Cancellations
However, since that time, Governor Newsom has given Guests and Cast Members little to look forward to. Instead of announcing re-opening plans, he continued to be silent on the matter.
This forced Disneyland to cancel even more reservations. Two weeks ago, Disneyland sent cancellation notifications stating: “Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park remain closed and will reopen at a later date, pending state and local government approvals.”
This further increased tension between Governor Newsom and Disney Executives.
Re-Opening Guidelines Announced
We are excited, but a bit perplexed over the new rumor on Disneyland theme parks guidelines for re-opening.
Per theme park journalist Carlye Wisel’s tweet: Governor Newsom states the following restrictions will be in place when Disneyland re-opens:
- advance ticket sales required (no same day tickets)
- 25% theme park capacity
- masks covering mouth and nose for Cast Members and guests
- theme park admission limited to guests residing within a specified distance from theme parks
I’m interested to see how they enforce the distance requirement on how far guests live from theme parks. Depending on how specific this restriction is, it may be difficult to measure, even with a California drivers license or ID.
What are your thoughts on the Disneyland re-opening guidelines rumor? Do you think it’s time to re-open Disneyland or should they wait? We would love to hear your thoughts. Please post them on the KtP Facebook page or share with the Crew.
