Is the Capture Your Moment Photo Session Magical or a Waste of Money?

Is the Capture Your Moment Photo Session Magical or a Waste of Money?

My family booked a “Capture Your Moment” photo session while visiting Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Check out my review of this unique photo session to see if this is worth valuable Park time and the additional cost.

Capture Your Moment

What is the “Capture Your Moment” photo session? This is a special experience that was once only available in the Magic Kingdom that allows Guests to have a personal photo session with a PhotoPass photographer. This experience has now extended to Disney’s Animal Kingdom as well.

This “Capture Your Moment” photo session was scheduled for January 2021. This was prior to the change to the face mask policy. Now Guests may take outside photos without masks while safely socially distanced from others. Read more about this HERE. Guests may now enjoy the “Capture Your Moment” photo session without face masks.

Originally this package cost $50 you and your family (up to 8 members) will have 20 minutes with a PhotoPass photographer to capture personal photos to celebrate special occasions and capture magical moments.

This experience has now expanded to all 4 Theme Parks at Walt Disney World. Check out the review of this experience at Disney’s Animal Kingdom HERE and find out more about offerings at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT HERE.

The expansion of this photo session to all 4 Theme Parks, also came with an increase in the price of this experience. Now instead of $50, Guests will now pay $79 starting in February 2022. This enchanted extra had another price increase in October 2022 and now costs $99.

Capture Your Moment allows you 20 minutes with a PhotoPass Photographer for $99.

This special photo session would also be great to celebrate a birthday, a 1st trip to Walt Disney World, graduation, family reunion, honeymoon, and even a surprise proposal.

The full payment is due a the time of making your reservation. You may cancel your reservation up to 24 hours in advance. Unfortunately, no shows and cancellations within 24 hours will still be charged the price of this session.

If there is is inclement weather, this photo session may be moved indoors. Locations for indoor session are subject to availability.

Advanced reservations are recommended by calling 407-939-5578.

What Is Included?

Capture your Moment is now available at all 4 Theme Parks at Walt Disney World. These are only available during Park hours. A Park ticket and Park reservation are not included in the price of this photo session.

Your PhotoPass photographer will offer various photo props that they may use during your session. My husband and I were celebrating our 20th Anniversary. Our PhotoPass photographer brought the Happily Ever After button prop and also the Mickey Mouse & symbol. This was so much fun for special photos to celebrate this anniversary milestone with our children.

Personal photo props can be used in this session; however all props must comply with the Walt Disney Resort Property Rules.

At the end of your session, the photos will be available to view in your My Disney Experience app. You will still need to purchase Memory Maker or pay for these prints individually unless you are an Annual Passholder.

Photos will be downloaded onto the My Disney Experience App. Guests may purchase Memory Maker or purchase prints individually to receive these photos without a watermark.

For our session we were able to visit 3 different locations that were close in proximity to one another. If you are concerned about time, you may also schedule an additional session. This would allow your family 40 minutes with your photographer for $158.

When To Arrive

Guests should plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to their scheduled session time at Box Office Gifts inside Town Square Theater along Main Street, USA. This will allow you time to get ready for your session and speak with your photographer. Check in locations will vary if you plan a photo session at a different Theme Park.

Unfortunately, a photo session cannot be extended if you arrive at your photo session late. Time flies when having fun, so we set an alarm on our phones to allow ample time to arrive for our session.

Arrive at town Square Theatre 10-15 minutes before your scheduled Capture Your Moment Photo Session.

My Review

Our photographer for our session was Jamie. She did an AWESOME job and listened to what was most important for this photo session. We mentioned that Cinderella Castle was our favorite location.

She led us past The Chapeau through Marketplace Blvd. that is used during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. This allowed us to bypass the crowded pathways of Main Street, USA.

Our secret pathway allowed us to pass by Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant and we arrived at our first photo location near the Cinderella Wishing Well. This was a nice location with minimal traffic although we did have to wait for a few Guests to pass by.

I think it is very important to have realistic expectations that this special service is not provided in roped off areas. Guests may still pass by. We even had a few Guests line up behind our photographer to have their photos taken after us.

For part of our session, an assistant was also present to help with the session and to also help communicate with Guests. During the middle of our session, the assistant offered to take photos for interested Guests.

We then walked through Cinderella Castle to take a few photos. I was so excited about this location. It is important to note that these photos will be uploaded at the end of the session and they will not be edited.

Our photos taken in this iconic location turned out very dark. At first I liked the silhouette of our family. A very sweet friend helped to add a little light on the photo and I loved it even more.

Here is the edited version of the above photo

In the end we captured 51 beautiful photos. Some photos may need to be edited just a bit, but in my opinion this is an unbelievable moment to truly capture the moment with your family.

We enjoyed our Capture Your Moment photo session so much that we scheduled an additional session in May 2021. We enjoyed this session even more without masks.

For this photo session we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. The celebratory chalkboard was provided by the PhotoPass photographer and this was such a fun proper for this special occasion.

Maggie’s Review

A fellow writer, Maggie, booked a “Capture Your Moment” photo session as well. I was so excited to hear about her experience and to see her beautiful pictures.

Maggie shared this about her experience, “We enjoyed out Capture Your Moment photo session at Magic Kingdom. We did not feel rushed at all. We were given so many fun poses and moments to capture. I loved how our photos turned out.”

It’s definitely worth the price, and I think it is very reasonable for a family for the time they spend with you. I would definitely do it again.”

Did you not have to pay for the 51 photos that were taken? I've been reading that the $79 fee does not include any photos, that they need to be purchased separately, and no one will tell me the cost. I just want to know what the per image (digital session) cost is, and disney reps on the phone don't know...

You have to buy Memory Maker in order to access the photos. They do not do a price-per-image package. That costs $169 if you purchase in advance and $199 if you purchase within 3 days before your trip or during.

What time was your session at? I have a couple of times booked because I was worried about crowds/lighting and timing but need to decide.
