This year, the Kenny the Pirate writing crew wanted to share our favorite Disney and Pixar moms. We undoubtedly had a tough time narrowing down our list. There are so many incredible moms that inspire us from Disney and Pixar films.

Check out the top Disney and Pixar moms who made our list.

Mrs. Potts

Mrs. Potts

Maggie Baltz shares, “My favorite Disney mom is Mrs. Potts from Beauty and the Beast. She takes care of Chip, even while being put under the Castle’s spell. She does all of this while also managing the castle.”

Mrs. Potts knows how to handle the Beast and isn’t afraid of him trying to push everyone away while still offering him comfort. I think Everyone looks to her as the mom of the castle.”

Chicha

Christina Knerr shares, “My favorite Disney mom is Chicha from The Emperor’s New Groove. She is strong and fierce and she will do what she must to protect her family. She is incredibly smart and innovative in dealing with situations. Not to mention she is a little sarcastic, which I love.”

One writer shares our first Pixar mom to our list with Laurel Lightfoot from Pixar’s Onward. She shares, “Laurel Lightfoot is portrayed by the incomparable Julia Louis-Dreyfus. She is the kind of mom we all wish we could be.”

Laurel is supportive, kind of a dork, and when her kids are in trouble she suddenly transforms into a fearless adventurers chasing after them. Love her! This movie left me wanting more Laurel!”

Heather Alosa shares her favorite Pixar mom who is truly “Incredible.” Heather shares, “My favorite Disney mom is Helen Parr aka Elastigirl. She is strong and confident. She encourages her kids to be who they truly are! And who wouldn’t want to ride the Elasticycle?”

Kala

Marisol White shares that her favorite Disney mom is Kala from Tarzan. Marisol shares, Even though she knows that Tarzan is a human and she is an ape it doesn’t matter to her the least bit. She rescued him as a baby and raised him to be like one of her own kind.

“I also am in love with the lullaby song that she sings to him, ‘You’ll Be In My Heart.’ It makes me cry each time I hear this beautiful heartfelt song as I sing it to my own children.”

Gramma Tala

Jamie Fonseca shares that her favorite Disney mom has to be Gramma Tala. “Gramma Tala, Moana’s grandmother, is the ultimate Disney mom. She recognizes that Moana has dreams and encourages her to follow her heart and find her happiness. She does this despite her parent’s insistence that she find happiness right where she is.”

Gramma Tala is a free spirit who follows her heart, and loves Moana without reservation. Moana found the courage to cross the ocean because of Gramma Tala’s love and belief in her. We should all be so lucky to have someone love us as deeply as Gramma Tala loves Moana.”

“She reminds me of my own grandmother, who I love and miss very much.”

Jaelyn Winkle shares her favorite Pixar mom. “My favorite Disney Pixar mom is Queen Elinor from Brave. She is so fiercely committed to her family and will do anything to make sure they are healthy, happy, and set up for success.”

“She also shows great character development. I love that we can watch her relationship with Merida deepen and grow throughout the film. Brave is such an underrated film!”

Queen Arianna

Susan Phillips shares, “There are so many fantastic Disney moms! One of my favorites is Queen Ariana from Tangled. Even though they are heartbroken when their precious baby is stolen, they never stop looking for her.

“I love the way she and the King hold onto hope by releasing lanterns every year on her birthday. When she returns, the castle is full of love. Queen Arianna not only celebrates Rapunzel’s return with joy, but she also embraces her beau, Flynn.”

Perdita

Monica Street’s favorite Disney mom is Perdita from 101 Dalmatians. She states, “Perdita is supermom for sure. Not only does she have 15 of her own babies (all at once!), but then she goes on to adopt 84 more! That takes love, dedication, and a heart that extends to the most vulnerable in this world.

Perdy goes through a traumatic experience and will stop at nothing to get her babies back, proving she will do anything for them. Her dedication to her family is something I greatly admire about her.”

Cinderella’s Mother

I (Donna) may be alone, but I absolutely love the live action Cinderella film. I especially loved the never before told relationship between Cinderella and her mother. In the original animated classic film, the only mention of Cinderella’s mother is in the opening storybook.

In the live action film, we see the relationship between young Ella and her mother. This relationship helps to explain how Ella (aka Cinderella) could continue to be kind in serving her evil stepmother and cruel stepsisters.

Ella’s mother shares with her, “Ella, my darling. I want to tell you a secret, a great secret that will see you through the trials that life can offer. You must always remember this, have courage and be kind. You have more kindness in your little finger than most people possess in their whole body.”

“You must always remember this, have courage and be kind.”

Ella’s mother from the live-action Cinderella

We are so thankful for all of the strong and caring mothers who continue to inspire their princes and princesses to “Have courage and be kind” every day of the year. We wish each mother a very Happy Mother’s Day! May all of your wishes come true!

Was your favorite Disney mom listed? Who would you add to the list? How are you celebrating Mother’s Day this year?
