Along with the new face mask policy for Guests comes a great change for Cast Members. Find out the new face mask policy for Cast Members at Walt Disney World.
New Face Mask Policy for Guests
Today has been a HUGE day in Disney news. Back in April, we finally saw the mask policy relax with Disney allowing Guests to remove their masks while taking an outdoor photo.
With CDC guidelines relaxing mask mandates even further in mid-May, Disney quickly put out an announcement shortly after. In that announcement, Disney said it was no longer mandatory for Guests to wear their masks outside.
Today, Walt Disney World announced a change to their face mask policy for Guests. Face coverings will be optional for fully vaccinated Guests in most areas. Check out where face masks are still required HERE.
Face Masks for Cast Members
Earlier this month, we shared that Cast Members who have outdoor roles and can maintain proper distancing from others are now permitted to forgo the mask wearing.
It was great to see photos of Cast Members greeting Guests with their faces uncovered with a welcoming smile. How much longer will Cast Members still be required to wear face masks and some to also wear face shields?
Previously all Cast Members were required to wear a face mask. In addition certain Cast Members who had close interaction with Guests were also required to wear a face shield as well.
We saw this in Cast Members operating attractions, working in queues for attractions, and in other various roles with high Guest interaction.
Starting on June 15th, Cast Members will no longer be required to wear face shields in any capacity. Face masks will still be required for Cast Members that were not already exempted from the previous face mask change.
Cast Members have been told that their face mask policy is currently being evaluated. We are hoping that another big announcement may be coming soon to allow Cast Members to be free from face masks as well.
Starting on June 15th, Cast Members will no longer be required to wear face shields in any capacity.
