New Very Merry After Hours to Replace Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party This Year

It’s been a long year of uncertainty in many ways. Last year, Disney shared it’s decision to cancel the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. As we are celebrating Halfway to the Holidays today, Disney has finally shared it’s plans for 2021!

Christmas in Disney World

I (Christina) love the holiday season at Disney World. My family always tries to visit some time during the season to enjoy all the beautiful decor, eats and entertainment.

There is something extra magical about Disney at Christmastime. It’s like stepping into a Hallmark movie or Christmas card. The atmosphere is so special and my favorite thing to do is explore the different resorts to see all the decorations.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

In a normal year, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a ticketed event that includes character meetings, themed treats, live stage shows and a special parade and fireworks show.

Last year, Disney was unable to host Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or the Candlelight Processional due to the global pandemic. This past May, during the Halfway to Halloween celebration, Disney announced that the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party would be replaced with Disney After Hours BOO BASH.

After increasing capacity, several Boo Bash dates are once again sold out

Disney Very Merriest After Hours

Today Disney has announced that in place of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party we will have Disney Very Merriest After Hours.

This new After Hours event will begin on November 8th and run select nights through December 21st. Guests will be able to enjoy special treats, ride overlays, holiday music and décor and distanced characters throughout the park.

The great news is there WILL be fireworks!Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks” will be delighting guests at this special ticketed 4-hour event!

The party officially begins at 9pm and lasts until 1am with guests being allowed to enter as early as 7pm.

It also appears that the projections will return to Cinderella Castle this year instead of the Dream lights once again.

Attendance will be limited to keep crowds at a distance, but considering how many tickets have been added to BOO BASH this year, we will have to see just how crowded that will be.

Tickets will go on sale next month, with an early purchase window available to guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels. Stay tuned for more information and pricing to come!

More Magical Extras

There will also be holiday celebrations at the other parks. Check out those details HERE. For magical extras setting sail on Disney Cruise Line click HERE!

Incredibly disappointed that they are offering an after hours party instead of a family friendly event. Few children under 12 can enjoy a 9pm-1am event, making this almost exclusively for teens and adults. I guess WDW really is moving towards adults; with children an after thought.

Looks like we’ll be headed to another theme park for our Christmas fun.

I guess because Christmas is a time for giving whereas Disney just take, take, take. Surely even Chapek couldn’t be such a Grinch....doh, that’s Universal.

I thought so too.. but it doesn’t . disney sells out no matter what they do.. interesting the very people they fight to include, they are excluding by upping their prices
