One of the biggest difference of Disney Parks is the interaction with our favorite characters. After the Park closures, the character interactions have been modified quite a bit. Check out the Disney Park that continues to hire characters while another Disney Park remains stagnant.
Modified Character Experience
A great big hug from Mickey Mouse is without a doubt my very favorite part of visiting the Disney Parks. I wondered if I would still feel the same level of Disney magic even without the character meet and greets.
Currently at Walt Disney World, the Character Cavalcades will be around for the unforeseeable future. We recently announced that after a year in operation, the Character Cavalcade showtimes are now listed on the My Disney Experience app.
Pop-up characters can also be found around the Walt Disney World Parks, but very few additions have been added to the character list. Walt Disney World has added a few additional characters around the holidays. However, in large part the character list has remained relatively the same.

Disneyland
Although Disneyland had a delayed Park reopening, they opened their magical gates wide open in terms of Guest experience. During the early preview days, we were excited to learn of a fun interactive Guest experience with our favorite pixie, Tinker Bell.
This personalized experience is still being tested, but this could very well be the future of character meet and greets. Our very own Kenny the Pirate writer, Marisol, shared the many great photos with characters that she was able to capture throughout Disneyland Park. Check these out HERE.
I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, but I think I prefer the character meet and greet opportunities at Disneyland opposed to that at Walt Disney World.
Avengers Campus
At the Avengers Campus at the California Adventure Park, they continue to create a truly “super” Guest experience. Entertainment around Avengers Campus includes Guardians of the Galaxy-Awesome Dance Off!, Heroic Encounters, Ancient Sanctum and Avengers Headquarters.
Guests can expect to see characters such as Iron Man, Spider-Man, Captain America Steve Rogers, Black Panther, the newest Captain America, Sam Wilson, Loki, the God of Mischief, Dr. Strange, The Wasp, Ant-Man and Black Widow.
Be sure to check out Marisol’s Super Guide around Avengers Campus to see great photos and content to plan your future trip.
New Characters Added
I do love Walt Disney World, but they have not added additional characters for their most recent films in quite some time.
Not only is Disneyland and California Adventure delivering interactions with characters for Guests, but they are still adding additional characters.
Currently, Disneyland has released job listings for Look-Alike for the following: KINGO, SERSI, and also PHASTOS. All of these characters are from the upcoming Marvel film Eternals.
The film Eternals is set to be released on November 5, 2021. This film is based on the Marvel Comics and will be the 26th film added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The premise for the film is that the Eternals are an immortal alien race. They emerge after thousands of years in order to protect the earth against the Deviants which are their evil counterparts.
Disneyland is ready for Guests to be able to interact with these upcoming stars at the Avengers Campus very soon.
