Love them or hate them, buffets may soon be returning to Disney World. Are you ready for their comeback?
Buffets
Clearly buffets are not the most hygienic experience at Disney (or anywhere else for that matter). Because of this, Disney World temporarily suspended them during the initial reopening phase.
Some restaurants that offered buffets have not reopened yet, and those that have are now all-you-can enjoy plates. Restaurants like Tusker House, Crystal Palace, and Hollywood & Vine are all open again but do not offer buffets.
However, Disney has been moving out of that initial reopening phase rapidly. Like many other things that have returned in recent months, could buffets be next?
Buffets return
Disney has just announced buffets are returning to more Disneyland restaurants! Storytellers Cafe just recently reopened with a buffet, and now two more restaurants join the list.
Both Goofy’s Kitchen and Plaza Inn are both reopening – with buffets! Although Goofy’s Kitchen will not have character experiences, Minnie and her friends will be greeting Guests at Plaza Inn for breakfast. Check out the announcements of both below from Disney Parks Blog:
The fantastic all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast and dinner buffets and serving stations at Goofy’s Kitchen will welcome guests back starting August 18. Although Goofy and Friends will not be hosting at the reopening, they will be returning at a later day – stay tuned for more details.
Rise and shine for “Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park,” an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet at Plaza Inn. Join Minnie and some of your favorite Disney pals while dining on hearty breakfast classics: made-to-order omelets and Mickey waffles, French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, breakfast potatoes, fresh-baked pastries and breads, fruit, and hot and cold cereals.
Minnie & Friends for breakfast at Plaza Inn opens on August 12, with booking available August 11.
What about Disney World?
This is great news for Guests heading to Disneyland! However, when will Disney World shift back to buffets?
With a higher number of restaurants at Disney World, the logistics of bringing buffets back to the parks and resorts can definitely be causing the delay. However, I do think Disney is intending to bring almost everything back before the 50th anniversary celebrations begin in October.
There are a ton of reopenings to look forward to this month, and more announcements regarding Early Theme Park Entry, Disney Dining Plan, and Annual Passes will be made in the near future.
I imagine they will be back sometime this fall! What is your best guess? Are you excited for them to return or do you wish they were a thing of the past? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook.
