There are quite a few refurbishments on the schedule at Disney World right now. The WDW railroad has been closed since late 2018, and most recently the train station scrim has been taken off and testing has begun.

Several resort lobbies are also in the process of being refurbished – Saratoga Springs, Old Key West, and All-Star Movies to name a few. Contemporary Resort is also a bit of a mess with room renovations, The Wave being transformed into Steakhouse 71, and other projections.

According to Disney,

“The Contemporary Feature Pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be unavailable in winter 2023 while it undergoes maintenance work. As an alternative, Guests staying at this Disney Resort hotel may enjoy the Bay Pool, leisure pool at the Contemporary Resort.

Additionally, the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will be unavailable beginning January through April 2023 while it undergoes maintenance work. As an alternative, Guests staying at this Disney Resort hotel may enjoy the Wilderness Swimmin’ pool.”

A special note about Contemporary Resort

Disney’s deluxe resorts are considered the best on property! Better food, amenities, and location are a few of the ways deluxe resorts are set apart from moderate and value resorts.

Those who stay at a deluxe resort will also have the opportunity to enjoy the parks later than other Guests. Beginning this fall, deluxe resort Guests can enjoy either Magic Kingdom or Epcot after the park has closed to daytime Guests.

However, if you plan to stay at the Contemporary for this benefit, you will want to know your experience will be impacted due to the pool refurbishment. Even though you can still swim at Disney in the winter, it is nice that it will not be closed during hotter months.

Were you planning a trip to either of these resorts during the scheduled refurbishment? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook.
