Is Disney about to demolish this closed attraction? New clues say YES

One attraction at Disney World has been closed for several months. Is Disney about to remove this eyesore? New clues say YES.

Construction Permit

Just a few weeks ago Disney World filed a permit for Dinoland USA in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Since the permit only listed “general construction,” we were unsure what exactly was taking place and which structures would be affected.

Because Primeval Whirl is the only closed attraction in that area, speculation led us to believe this attraction was the intended recipient of such construction.

It appears that speculation is true! Disney has constructed walls up around Primeval Whirl. This ride had a rocky several months at the end of 2019/beginning of 2020. Then, when the parks reopened in July 2020, they announced its permanent closure.

It has sat empty and abandoned for almost two years.

What exactly do they plan to do?

Disney has not made any official announcements, but they are likely going to demolish Primeval Whirl. The ride really cannot be rethemed into anything else because there are so many issues with the ride design itself.

You may remember Disney originally close the ride after a similar attraction in the UK caused a young boy to become critically injured.

Many children love this ride, but for most adults it is just too nauseating. The area would be better purposed as something else that fits the Dinoland theme.

I don’t quite understand why Disney could not have done this sooner considering the 50th anniversary is just around the corner. Regardless, we will keep you updated on what happens with Primeval Whirl!

Did you love Primeval Whirl or are you sad to see it go? What do you hope takes its place? We would love to hear from you! Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook.
