It has been a very long time since we have been able to hug Mickey, share a dance with our favorite Princess, or high five Chewbacca. When the parks reopened last year, character meets were suspended for the health and safety of guests and Cast Members.

Disney has just announced that characters are returning! Here are the details.

Over the past year, beloved Disney Characters have been popping up in cavalcades, motorcades, flotillas, and surprise sightings, much to the delight of our guests, and I’m pleased to tell you many of those experiences will be continuing.

Although the environment is not right just yet for hugs and autographs, you’ll soon be able to have individualized time with some of your favorite characters, getting to visit with them in a themed location and snap a photo or two.

Look for the Disney Princesses to return to Princess Fairytale Hall in Magic Kingdom Park. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll soon find Minnie Mouse at Red Carpet Dreams and the stars of Disney Junior in Animation Courtyard. And when you stop in to see Mickey Mouse backstage at Town Square Theater on Main Street, U.S.A., he’ll be sporting his all-new EARidescent look designed just for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration!

Each of these locations is planned to start welcoming guests in November.

Yay for more characters! We are so excited to visit our favorite friends once again and see more life come into the parks beginning in November. Judging by the photo and description Disney provided, this will not be the same experience as before.

These will be semi-distanced meet and greets, so we won’t be able to hug or touch them just yet. Additionally, in the photo provided the guests were wearing a mask. It is safe to assume for indoor meets a mask WILL be required. We are unsure of any requirements for outdoor meet and greets at this time.

Are you excited for character meet and greets to return? No, it won’t be exactly the same, but it’s a start! Join the conversation below or on Facebook.
