Minnie Vans have been spotted at a park in Disney World! What does this mean for the future of these extra cute vehicles? Are they returning?
Minnie Vans
Disney halted its paid rideshare service when the parks reopened last July. These stylish, yet overpriced to many, polka dot vans moved Guests around property and back and forth to the Orlando International Airport.
How does one get a Minnie Van? Disney partnered with Lyft so you have the option to choose one in the app. They are desirable due to the fact that they are driven by Cast Members and includes two child seats if needed.
Sadly, these Cast Members who operate the vehicles were laid off last year, and Disney has remained tight-lipped about when the service may return.
However, with many of the health and safety protocols essentially nonexistent, we are wondering when this service may resume.
Signs
Back in May, a few clues led us to believe Disney was thinking about bringing the vans back. We spotted the option to select a Minnie Van in the Lyft app first. Then, just the next day, we shared that Disney installed new signs at Hollywood Studios.
It all looked very promising, but Disney continues to remain silent and has not made any announcements about their return.
“Spotted” around property
This morning, runners participating in the Wine and Dine 5k were greeted with a fun surprise: Minnie Vans! Our friends at Streaming the Magic captured a video. Head over to the Streaming the Magic Facebook page (linked above) to watch!
You can see the polka dot wrapped SUVS all lined up in a row in the parking lot. It looks like there are several of them – at least a dozen if not more. This could just be a temporary holding spot, but it does give us hope that they may return soon.
Many speculated that Disney sold the Minnie Vans to a dealership, but with Magical Express ending next month, we may see an announcement for Minnie Van service soon.
