We love all of the beautiful decorations for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. This year even the iconic gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian received a golden touch for this magical celebration. Check out all of the amazing details and find out how you could bring home your own piece of the magic.
Gingerbread Houses Return
One of my family’s favorite traditions was to visit many of the Walt Disney World Resorts at Christmas. We enjoy the many beautiful Christmas decorations that can be found all throughout the Disney Resorts.
One of our favorite locations to visit is the Grand Floridian with the large life-size version of a gingerbread house. As you step into the stunning Grand Floridian lobby you are welcomed by both the sights and scents of Christmas. Not only is the gingerbread house stunning, but it is also edible.
Guests can purchase sweet treats as seen adorned on the gingerbread house for sale in the store at the side of the gingerbread house. In 2020, Disney decided not to put any displays out, but we are so thankful that it has returned.
You can check out the other locations of gingerbread houses HERE and also take a look at the beautiful gingerbread carousel at Disney’s Beach Club.
50th Anniversary Overlay
Guests visiting the Grand Floridian can now enjoy a 50th Anniversary overlay to the iconic gingerbread house. I absolutely loved the golden touches that were added to this year’s gingerbread house design.
Check out the golden shutters and the windows that appear to be frosted glass. I love the brilliant blue accents in the decorations and foliage that are a nod to the golden and blue accents of Cinderella Castle.
What did it take to create this beautiful structure? The talented bakers share that it took the following ingredients for this year’s house: 1,050 pounds of honey, 140 pints of egg whites, 600 pounds of powdered sugar, 700 pounds of chocolate, 800 pounds of flour, and 35 pounds of spices.
Of course this couldn’t be possible without tons of creativity combined with Disney magic and Pixie Dust.
Every level of this gingerbread house is truly a sight to behold with hidden Mickeys galore and edible chocolate figures featured on every level. Check out the gingerbread front porch in the picture above.
