The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed since the end of 2018, as a result of the construction for the highly anticipated TRON attraction.

Earlier this year, Disney installed a scrim around the train station so that a refurbishment may be completed. This scrim has since been removed, but the Walt Disney World Railroad remains closed.

Many Guests have commented that the 50th Anniversary celebration at the Magic Kingdom just isn’t the same without the Walt Disney Railroad. Walt Disney loved trains and it is only fitting that each Disney Park has a train that Guests can enjoy.

Back in August, the Walt Disney World Railroad was tested and Guests could hear the familiar train whistle while in Frontierland. Today we have heard that Guests may hear this familiar sound once again.

Today, December 8, 2021, Guests may once again see the Walt Disney World Railroad chugging along for testing. This will be an amazing scene for Guests visiting Walt Disney World today.

Could this mean that this attraction will be reopening soon? This will be a great step forward towards the reopening of the Walt Disney World Railroad. Unfortunately, the reopening timeline for the railroad will be based upon the construction of TRON.

Walt Disney World has still not released a reopening timeline for the TRON attraction. We are hoping that the Walt Disney World Railroad will be able to return in the near future.

Today, December 8, 2021, Guests may once again see the Walt Disney World Railroad chugging along for testing.

What do you think of the testing of the Walt Disney World Railroad? Do you think this may mean that it could reopen soon even with the TRON construction? Do you miss riding on the Walt Disney World Railroad? Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook Page.
