We all have our favorite thrilling attractions in the Disney Parks. What happens when a malfunction causes your favorite thrilling attraction to become a bit terrifying on the way down? Check out this surprising drop to this fan favorite attraction.
Ride Malfunctions
While the majority of operations run smoothly at Disney parks, there are times when things don’t always go as planned. Evacuations, malfunctions, and more can really impact the day-to-day runnings of the parks.
This past summer, Living with the Land was closed for several days due to fire alarm malfunctions. We have seen Guests walk off attractions such as the Haunted Mansion and when Guests were asked to evacuate the Millennium Falcon.
Pirates of the Caribbean has met a few unforgiving seas once or twice. Guests were able to see the inner wonderment of Space Mountain with the lights on while enjoying the TTC People Mover. Of course the TTC People Mover is also no stranger to ride malfunctions and Guest evacuations.
These malfunctions occur periodically and typically Guests are evacuated. However, Disneyland Guests experienced Splash Mountain in a rather unusual way.
Splash Mountain
On a recent trip to Walt Disney World my (Donna) daughter and I purchased Disney Genie+ and made our first selection for Splash Mountain. Splash Mountain only opened temporarily and we were not able to ride it before it closed again. Check out what happens to your Lightning Lane selection when the attraction closes HERE.
It is never a good sign when water is completely missing from the iconic waterfall, but somehow the ride appears even scarier when the water is turned off.
Could you imagine making your way through the entire attraction, and as you prepare for the big drop, there is NO WATER!!!! Recently, mommymouseclubhouse shared that Splash Mountain was missing a “little” something. Check out the video:
These Guests at Disneyland truly experienced the attraction like never before. I love the thrilling drop, but I think I would have been terrified seeing the big drop in front of me.

What you like to experience the drop of Splash Mountain without the waterfall at the end? Do you think this would make the attraction even scarier? Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook Page.
