Completing any race is an accomplishment. A lot of people use runDisney races to celebrate these major accomplishments. One runner did something even more amazing this past weekend.

Want to race through the parks? What could be more fun than running down Main Street, U.S.A.? I know I love it! I (Heather) participated in the Half Marathon over Marathon Weekend! Were any others from the crew there racing?

runDisney Challenges
runDisney offers many different types of races. From a 5k all the way to a FULL MARATHON! But did you know there is even more you could do? Runners can do race challenges. These are when they run in more than one distance.
For example, a few years ago I did the Two Course Challenge during the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend. This challenge included the 10K and the Half Marathon. Participants need to register for the challenge and not the individual races.
Runners much register for the challenge in order to be eligible for the finisher medal.
In order for a runner to receive the challenge medal they must complete both races. This means you can’t be swept (picked up by the buses). Runners should maintain a 16 minute per mile pace to avoid this.
This 16 minute per mile pace begins from when the last person crosses the start line. If you are in an earlier starting group, you have more of a cushion to finish the race.
Dopey Challenge
The hardest Disney challenge is the Dopey Challenge. This is when a runner races in every race over Marathon Weekend. So they will do the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and the full Marathon. Were you counting up that mileage?
That’s 48.6 miles over 4 days! I’m tired just thinking about it (even though it is on my bucket list). Anyone who event attempts this is AMAZING!
Runner Sweeps Dopey Challenge
In the first time in history a runner has won all four Disney races over the course of Marathon Weekend. Brittany Charboneau swept the Dopey Challenge! She is a 33 year-old from Denver who is an aspiring Olympian! What an amazing accomplishment!
Not only did she win all four races, but she did them in Disney style! She went out in costumes, from Elsa to Cruella de Vil! Way to go Brittany! We are so proud of you and know this wasn’t easy. Good luck in all of your future races!
Any Dopey runners out there? What do you think of her accomplishment?Let us know on the Kenny the Pirate Facebook page. Don’t forget to join the KtP crew page, too!
