A Road Closure will Impact Disney World Travel for a Long Time

Transportation around Walt Disney World is a bit complicated at times. An extended road closure is now planned that will affect both Disney World Guests and Cast Members for the next several months.

Transportation around Walt Disney World is a bit complicated at times. Many Guests wonder if it is quicker to drive themselves or to use Disney transportation. 

There are many differing opinions largely depending upon which Disney Resort you are staying at and also which Park you will be visiting. The Walt Disney World Resort is HUGE and many questions revolve around what is the quickest mode of transportation to arrive to each Park. 

From the skyliner, buses, ferry boats, and of course the monorail there are many options for Resort Guests to arrive at each of the Walt Disney World Parks.

For select events temporary road closures are announced, as for the runDisney events. A new road closure will cause transportation delays for several months for both Cast Members and select forms of Guest transportation. You will definitely want to make plans accordingly particular if Park Hopping or at Park Closing.

Road Closure

Guests visiting EPOCT will soon experience a detour starting on January 17, 2022. At that time, EPCOT Center Drive will be closed for a construction project which is set to end in June 2022.

This will affect Guests and Cast Members exiting EPCOT. They will be unable to exit northbound World Drive towards Magic Kingdom. The detour route will direct drivers towards the eastbound exit towards Buena Vista Drive.

This will affect Guests who choose to drive their personal vehicles and also those who are utilizing the Disney bus transportation. This will definitely require added travel time for Guests traveling to and from EPCOT during these months.

This will not affect Guests utilizing other forms of Disney transportation like the monorail and skyliner. Guests may want to take advantage of these other forms of transportation if possible to avoid possible traffic delays.
