Looking for some Walt Disney nostalgia? Interested in all things Disney history? Here is how you can see an iconic piece of Disney history up close and personal.
Walt’s Plane
How was Walt able to travel the world so effortlessly when he was creating movies and designing theme parks? He had a personal plane, of course!
Disney specifically used the plane to travel back and forth from California to Florida when Walt was planning Walt Disney World. “The Mouse”, as it is called, was used to scope out land that the company was interested in purchasing for its theme parks.
Additionally, the plane was also used to carry people back and forth to New York for the 1964/1965 World’s Fair. The plane remained in use for many years until it was finally retired in the early 1990’s.
Disney parked it at both Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, but it has remained out of sight for years. Fortunately, we are about to see it in action once again!
Mickey Mouse One Exhibit
D23 announced that Walt’s plane will be restored and put on display at the D23 Expo later this year. In a partnership with Amazon, Guests will be able to see the plane at an exhibit called “Mickey Mouse One.”
The D23 Expo will take place September 9-11, 2022 in Anaheim, California. Tickets go on sale starting January 19 and cost anywhere from $79 to $899. You may remember we just had Destination D23 in November where the company shared several new projects and the return of many experiences we have missed.
