It’s been a rough day so far for Hollywood Studios. Multiple attraction malfunctions are impacting the Guest experience.
Hollywood Studios
After a complete overhaul of the entire park, Hollywood Studios is no longer a half day park. With the addition of Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge plus the only Mickey and Minnie attraction, many Guests spend several days there now.
Slinky Dog Dash and Rise of the Resistance are arguably the most popular rides in the park. Then we have a few oldies but goodies: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. While many debate the replacement of The Great Movie Ride, Mickey and Minnie is a fun ride.
However, it isn’t always Mickey pretzels and totchos at Hollywood Studios. Two rides have had a rough day so far.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
This ride in particular has had a rough 2022 so far. It closed for several days, reportedly due to positive cases among Disney College Program participants. It began right in the middle of the week between Christmas and New Year and only recently reopened sporadically.
I say sporadically because it still faces extended downtime throughout the day from time to time. Today, January 15, is one of those days because Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has had a rocky start.
It appears that it either didn’t open at all this morning or it opened and immediately closed right after onsite Guests entered the park. At approximately 11:30 am it began welcoming Guests again.
Rise of the Resistance
This ride is not without technical issues. After a horrible start in the winter of 2019/2020, we thought maybe Imagineers worked out all the issues. We haven’t seen a ton of issues in quite a while, but today is not that day.
At 12:00 pm, the ride has failed to open at all today. We are not sure what the issue is or when it may be resolved, but we sure hope it is for the sake of all those Guests!
The issues at these two attractions are creating quite a problem for other rides at Hollywood Studios. Higher wait times can be seen throughout the park, and now that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has a 2 hour wait. We knew MLK would be busy, and this just adds another layer to the busyness of the park.
