The New Disney Springs Hotel Will Have Amazing Benefits

There is a new Disney Springs hotel coming soon where guests get free breakfast and dinner! We have all the details for you.

Disney Springs Hotels

Did you know that Disney Springs has many official Walt Disney World hotels. These Disney Springs area hotels offer many of the same benefits as the Walt Disney Resorts Hotel Collection.

Now, there is a New Disney Springs Area Hotel in town! And, it has some pretty great benefits and amenities.

The Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista

If all goes well, The Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista will be opening in the fall of 2022. In fact, guests can book reservations from October 27, 2022 and beyond.

This hotel is replacing Best Western Lake Buena Vista Resort, a resort once popular with off site guests for its last minute deals on bookings. The switch entails renovations to the original building along with the construction of a new tower.

The Drury Plaza Hotel is owned by the Drury Hotels chain. The addition will be the company’s largest hotel to date, boasting 604 rooms. A portion of those rooms will open on the scheduled date of October 27, 2022. The rest will be ready in the spring of 2023.

An Official Disney World Hotel

In addition to being the largest Drury branded hotel, it is also the chain’s first official Walt Disney World Hotel! As such, guests will be able to book it as part of a Walt Disney World Package.

As an official Walt Disney World Hotel, it will qualify for Disney Advantage perks. Currently, Disney Springs hotels receive early entry to the parks. If this perk is still running when the hotel opens, it should qualify as well. However, we will let you know if for any reason it turns out this is not the case.

Additionally, it will offer other Disney Hotel perks. For example, according to the hotel’s website, it will offer transportation to and from the Walt Disney World Theme Parks with shuttles arriving every 30 minutes.

It is also only a half a mile from Disney Springs, so guests can easily walk there if they wish. However, the hotel plans to run a shuttle to and from Disney Springs from 5 p.m. until 3 a.m. as well.

Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can book park passes for the entire length of stay when they book this hotel. This means they are not subject to passholder daily allotments when booking.

Amenities

The hotel will have plenty of amenities to enjoy when guests aren’t in the parks. The hotel will have a pool, whirlpool, and a splashpad! Additionally, there will be an arcade.

In-room amenities include free Wi-Fi, a TV, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Some specialty rooms even have a terrace with fireworks views!

Free Meals!

As it is with many hotels, a stay at The Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista will include a free hot breakfast served daily from 6–9:30 a.m. on weekdays and 7–10 a.m. on weekends.

Scrambled eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, and coffee are all available. Here is a sample breakfast menu.

Additionally, you can grab free popcorn and soda in the lobby! If your family needs a snack coming or going to the parks, this could be a great savings!

Even better, the Drury hotel chain is unique in that hotels typically offer an evening meal as well. The website refers to it as a “5:30 Kickback.”

The 5:30 Kickback “nightly snack” lasts nightly from (unsurprisingly) 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. A complimentary rotating menu of fresh, hot food and beer, wine, mixed drinks and soft drinks are served every day.

While the hotel calls it snack instead of a dinner, there is plenty to eat! Plus, it is served at dinner time, so I (Katie P) definitely consider this a free dinner.

Hot food items include: pasta, salad, soups, chicken, sandwiches, hotdogs, meatballs, and sides. Check out this sample menu.

I wish Disney would consider hotdogs a snack! When I travel with my kids, and they ask for a hotdog, I would rather feed them a free hotdog than one that costs $9.25.

I don’t know that I would want to eat these meals every day, especially with all the great, yet increasingly pricey, food there is to be had in the parks. However, this is still a pretty fantastic perk.

Utilizing the Kickback snacks for dinner could be a great for arrival day because as long as you arrived prior to 7:00 pm, there would be no need to go anywhere, and you could relax with free food and drinks after your travel.

It could also be wonderful if you have a day where you hit the parks in the morning and call it a night early. I imagine it would be nice to eat a free meal, enjoy complimentary drinks, and head back to one of those fireworks rooms to watch the show!

Additionally, this perk may also work for you if you plan to do a mid day break, grab an early bite to eat, and head back out after to close the parks down. I feel like it would work well for most every touring style except those who tour from rope drop until park close.

Additional Dining

Of course, there are additional paid dining options for lunch and for dinner for those who miss the 5:30 Kickback or for those who want something a little different.

The Kitchen + Bar is a cozier dining experience. It is conveniently located within the hotel lobby and open daily for guests to enjoy a casual indoor meal. They may also elect to take it to go and enjoy a meal in the room or the outdoor spaces.

However, guests will also have options poolside dining. Lakeside Bar & Grill is the poolside restaurant and full-service bar. Patrons can choose from a wide variety of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and wraps, or items from the kids’ menu.

If you need a sharable meal and are craving a pizza fit, you will also find a Pizza Hut Express. You can order ahead for an in-room dining or use the grab-and-go option.

Finally, guests can enjoy the Marketplace, which includes a coffee shop. You will also find grab-and-go food and beverage items, frozen novelties, sundries, gifts and more.

Discounts

Everyone loves a Disney hotel discount. The Drury Plaza Hotel is currently running several!

There is a Florida Resident Discount available for booking. It entitles residents to 10% off your stay. As of now (January 14, 2022) you can book online using this promo code 321565.

Additionally, you will find a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder Discount. The website states, Passholders “can receive up to a 15% discount off our Best Flexible Rate.”

The hotel will also offer other discounts such as auto club, senior, veteran (10%), military (10%), government, or law enforcement (10%).

Pricing

I checked some pricing on the website just to get an idea what it is like. For the projected opening weekend (specifically, October 29, 2022), a one night stay on a Saturday night for a firework view room with 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa is $239.99 ($294.74 after taxes and fees). Standard rooms are as low as 209.99 ($260.99 after taxes and fees).

Closer to peak season, prices increase as expected. A standard room is listed at $299 ($362.24 after taxes and fees) for Christmas Eve night, December 24, 2022.

Additionally, parking is not included here. It is $18 per night, so be prepared for that additional cost.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I would really love to check out this hotel, especially on a quick weekend trip. If I were going on a once in a lifetime trip, I would want to go big. But, for a more frequent traveler, this could be a fun experience!

If you do decide to book this new hotel early, you may want to have a back-up plan in case of unanticipated construction delays. You should also know that there will be some continued hotel construction as the remaining rooms are prepared after the initial phase opens in October. If the idea of that bothers you, then certainly it would be better to wait until after that projected spring 2023 completion date to enjoy a stay here.
