Disney World gives refunds for this recent event

Have you had to cancel plans last minute because of COVID? One BIG weekend at Disney brought a lot of people together, and some had to cancel. Disney World stepped in to help those who hand to cancel.

In-person running returned to Disney last fall. It was amazing to see all those runners out there again! I (Heather) was out there too! I ran in the Half Marathon during Marathon Weekend. I think Disney did an amazing job putting on this event. Be sure to check back soon for my full review of back to in-person racing!

In the meantime, be sure to check out my other posts regarding helpful runDisney tips! Thinking of doing a runDisney race? They just released next year’s dates. Check them out HERE. Also be sure to check out what every runDisney runner should know. You can read that HERE.

    • For more information, see the most updated face covering requirements.
  • Important Information about Walt Disney World Resort
    • Health and safety measures and operational guidelines are subject to change without notice. Learn more.
  • COVID-19 Warning
    • An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. View important details.

Refund as Disney Gift Card

It has been reported that some runners who could not make the race or races due to COVID, got their race fees back in the form of a Disney gift card. This is AMAZING news!

Some runners who could not attend Marathon Weekend due to COVID, got their race fees back as a Disney Gift Card!

If you missed any of the races over Marathon Weekend due to COVID, please reach out to runDisney through email. Click HERE for a link to contact runDisney. There are also reports that it is taking a long time to hear back from runDisney, so please be patient with these cast members. They are very busy!

I think it is great that Disney is providing the race fees back in a gift card. I know it is not a full cash refund, but it is something! Also, it will promote safe racing!

Please keep in mind, this could be done in a case by base situation. I am hopeful that runDisney will continue to do this to help support safe in-person racing. I can only imagine how hard it was for these runners to not run. Some runners have been training for six months!

Did you or someone you know not able to run during Marathon Weekend due to COVID? Let us know on the Kenny the Pirate Facebook page. Don’t forget to join the KtP crew page, too!
