A popular children’s horror fiction novel series from the 1990’s will soon be made into a live action series on Disney+. Are you looking forward to this?
Goosebumps
Written by American author R.L. Stine, “Goosebumps,” was first published by Scholastic Publishing in the early 1990’s. The books follow young children who find themselves in scary situations, usually involving monsters and other supernatural elements.
There are now more than 200 books in total, including the original book series, spinoffs and related book series. It has also sold over 400 million books worldwide, making it the second best selling book series in history.
“Goosebumps” has also been adapted into two feature films and a live action series that aired on television between 1996 and 1998.
A second new-live action series is currently in the works.
Disney+
The new “Goosebumps” television series has been picked up by Disney+. It will include ten episodes.
The series follows a group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town. They must all work together – thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries, and pasts with each other – in order to save it. They learn much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.
Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman, who directed the 2015 Goosebumps movie, serve as writers and executive producers on the show.
This will not be the first time that author R.L. Stine has worked with Disney+. His “Just Beyond” graphic novels were adapted into an eight episode show that debuted in October 2021.
As of now, no word yet on a start or release date. We will be sure to let you know when we have received more information on this new series soon coming to Disney+.
