Disney and Marvel

When Disney purchased Marvel Entertainment back in 2009, it brought a diverse range of characters into its pool of intellectual property. The acquisition cost $4 billion, which sounds like a huge sum. Some doubted whether it was a wise purchase.

However, Disney began to profit off the Marvel Universe soon enough, and it has since become one of the most successful franchises in history. In fact, when taking movies, tv series, and merchandise into consideration, Forbes recently valued it at more than $50 billion.

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

On of the perks of owning Marvel is that deep range of characters, rich in interesting backstories. Being able to delve into individual characters in the Marvel Universe has been a huge part of the profitability.

Now, Disney is exploring Dr. Strange with a new film Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It is intended to be a sequel to 2016’s Dr. Strange.

Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Dr. Stephen Strange. Joining him will be Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, and Benedict Wong as Wong.

Like all Marvel movies, this one looks riveting! I (Katie) never saw the first Dr. Strange movie, but I might just have to go back and watch it to be ready for this one.
