Refurbishment is part of the theme park industry. Disney has announced the start date for a refurbishment some are looking forward to.
The Grand Floridian
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is one of Walt Disney World’s most well known Deluxe resort properties. It is also a home resort for many lucky DVC owners.
This gorgeous resort has elegant Victorian theming and is home to Disney’s Wedding Pavilion as well as popular restaurants like Citricos and Narcoossee’s. For a full guide of everything you need to know about the villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, click here.
A Grand Expansion
In case you missed it, last May Disney announced that the Grand Floridian is receiving a grand expansion. The plan is to expand the resort’s DVC offerings by adding 200 studios! You can read the initial expansion announcement here.
The expansion will take over the Big Pine Key building. The studio rooms being completed will accommodate up to five guests.
Existing rooms will also be receiving some glorious enhancements! For details and a preview of the new rooms and enhancements to existing rooms, head over here.
This is great news for DVC owners as it will add inventory to the pool of available rooms. Studios are quite popular and go quickly when booking windows open. There are currently only 100 DVC rooms available, so this triples that number.
The Date is Set
The refurbishment date has been set! Work will begin on March 1, 2022. During this time, Disney states that guests may see and hear construction during the day. However, most resort amenities will remain open.
Interestingly, the website also states, “please, allow additional travel time.” So, if you are coming to of going from the Grand Floridian during the refurbishment, you may experience delays.
Will this refurbishment coincide with your trip? Are you excited for the expansion and the new rooms? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook!
