Orlando is experiencing some severe weather today. How will this impact your travel in the area?
Rainy weather
This week has been a particularly rainy week for Orlando, Florida. Scattered storms and showers were predicted for much of this week. You can take a look at the weather forecast from Joe HERE. In his forecast, Joe mentioned flight delays could occur beginning Wednesday and into Thursday.
Earlier this week, guests visiting Walt Disney World experienced high tides and flooding at the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This just wasn’t any heavy rain. Some guests reported experiencing water deep enough to be over their ankles!
Check out the video Kenny shared while he was visiting the parks in this post HERE.
Orlando Airport
How does the weather affect your travel plans? If you are flying back home or into Orlando, severe weather will definitely impact travel. Orlando Airport tweeted today the following:
Due to weather/thunderstorms, airport operations may be impacted with flight delays/cancellations and baggage delivery delays. Please check with your airline directly for any updates in regards to their ops. For general airport delays, visit: nasstatus.faa.gov.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of Florida until 9 pm EST today, March 10.
If you are heading home or flying into Orlando, be sure to check on your flight status and most of all, remember to pack your patience!
Disney World
Does Disney World close when it rains? While it is pretty unlikely to close during a storm, the rain is likely to affect the theme parks in some way. The important thing is to stay safe.
Sometimes, the parks are great to experience in the rain! To make the most of your rainy day, check out Donna’s post HERE. It is still possible to have a magical day, even with some rain. Stay safe and dry everyone!
