Get ready to tune into the 94th Academy Awards as a song that you may hum or sing to on a daily basis will be performed live for the first time on national television.
Encanto’s Nominations for the Academy Awards
Since its release in November, Disney’s animated film Encanto has proven to be quite the hit. In fact, the film has earned three nominations for the 2022 Academy Awards.
The film Encanto has been nominated for Best Animated Feature Film, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song for ‘Dos Oruguitas’ categories.
The Academy Awards will take place on live television Sunday March 27, 2022 on ABC.
‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’
One particular song that was not nominated for an Academy Award was the chart topping song, ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno.’ Many people were confused as to how and why this happened. The film’s “Dos Oruguitas” was nominated for Best Original Song, while mega-hit “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” was not submitted for awards consideration.
In fact, the song recently surpassed the ever so popular song, “Let It Go,” as the highest ranking Disney song on the charts. “Let It Go” reached #5 on the billboard Hot 100 list in 2014.
Lin-Manuel Miranda had to explain the reasonings for not nominating the second Billboard No. 1 song from a Disney animated film:
I’m still proud of ‘Dos Oruguitas’ as the submission. When those are the parameters, you have to pick the thing that best exemplifies the spirit of the movie, and it contains all of it inside this song – as opposed to a journey of a particular character. It’s the foundational story, but I’m not going to say it wasn’t hard [to choose].
In today’s Tweet, the Oscars announced that they will be talking about Bruno as the song will be performed live during the live Academy Awards.
I will now be watching and waiting for the live presentation as I’m sure it will be one not to forget. Way to go Madrigal familia!
