Orlando International Airport To Begin Removing Certain Special Features

You might want to book a flight by the end of tonight. MCO has announced that special celebration décor will begin to be removed beginning tonight.

The magic at Walt Disney World ignited when the celebration first began on October 1, 2021. Dazzling EARidescent decorations, new looks for Mickey and Friends, and many magical touches at all four Disney theme parks are still on full display today.

Disney also mentioned that the 50th Anniversary celebration would also continue off property. They announced that air travelers at the Orlando International Airport would feel the immersion of the magic as soon as they arrived in Central Florida.

The transformation of Disney touches were installed in the terminal train stations which featured the Disney Fab 50 Character collection, which can be found throughout all four WDW theme parks. A photo opportunity also includes a golden teacup inspired by the guest favorite, Mad Tea Party attraction at Magic Kingdom.

On the ground, travelers see projected EARidescent light patterns as they walk through the airport terminal just outside the Magic of Disney Store in the East Hall. Lastly, travelers see a 36 foot long video screen showcasing the shimmering EARidescence of the four parks “Beacons of Magic.”

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. When the news of the magical makeover was first announced, it also included an end date to the magic, which was for March 2022.

This morning, the Orlando Airport posted on their Facebook page:

The Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration decorations throughout our airport will start being removed tonight. If you’re traveling through, make sure to grab some pics of your favorite pals here before they say Bibbidi Bobbidi Bye! Though the decorations are going away, the magic is still going strong, the celebration continues and the unforgettable stories are just beginning.

My heart sank as I read the post this morning. There was something truly magical about getting off my flight, walking out of the tram and being welcomed by my favorite Disney friends at my favorite airport. At least I have the memories and the many pictures I took that I will always cherish. Thank you, MCO.
