What was once a slow period is now turning into a busy one… judging off these new park hours. Let us know what you think!
Disney in May
May is one of my favorite times to visit Disney World. Flower and Garden is in full bloom, the weather is great for swimming but it’s not too hot, and crowds are usually lower in between spring and summer breaks.
Key word: usually
It seems that there is no “slow” time at Disney World anymore. People are flowing into the parks all year round due to pent up travel demand, great hotel offers, and other miscellaneous reasons.
Check out these extended park hours in May. You may be surprised!
Magic Kingdom
On May 16, 17, 19, 20, and 21 Magic Kingdom now closes at 11:00 pm. The most popular theme park in the world deserves some late hours, and this is a great return to normalcy. I love going for a swim in the afternoon and heading back at night to shut the park down. The sun has set and the weather has cooled down.
That means the May 17 Deluxe Evening Hours will run from 11:00 pm to 1:00 am. You can read all about my experience using this perk at Magic Kingdom HERE. Spoiler alert: it was so much fun, and we got a lot done!
Epcot
If you need to get a head start on your World Showcase snacking, this one’s for you. From May 15 to May 21, Epcot will open 30 minutes earlier. Instead of opening at 9:00 am, it now opens at 8:30 am. To me 8:30 is never too early to start sampling all those Flower and Garden dishes!
This also means Early Theme Park Entry will begin at 8:00 am for Guests who are staying onsite. If you are coming in via the International Gateway, we recommend rope dropping Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure for a minimal wait. If you are at the front entrance, Test Track would be a good first choice!
Hollywood Studios
In my opinion, the hardest park to tour is Hollywood Studios. There are so many excellent headliners, and wait times can exceed an hour or more for them throughout the day. Take advantage of the park opening 30 minutes earlier from May 15 to May 21. Now it will open at 8:30 am.
And, if you are staying onsite this means you can enter as early as 8:00 am. We recommend getting to the entrance about 1-1.5 hours before. See how I rode almost every attraction at Hollywood Studios using Early Theme Park Entry HERE.
Animal Kingdom
Also from May 15 to May 21, Animal Kingdom opens 30 minutes earlier to Guests. Now enter at 7:30 am instead of 8:00 am. And, of course, this means onsite Guests can enter at 7:00 am. Better make sure you can multi-task! Rope dropping and grabbing those Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane Selections could be a bit hard.
