Disney has introduced Genie+, which allows users to access Lightning Lanes. For $15 per person, per day, Guests will get a chance to choose attractions to use Lightning Lanes, which is essentially a shorter line and less of a wait.

You can make one selection at a time all throughout the day. 40+ attractions are included in Genie+ at Walt Disney World and 15+ attractions are available at Disneyland.  Not long ago, Disney began adding select character meet and greets to the the Genie+ service. Guests were thrilled to have the chance to meet Mickey Mouse and other favorite characters using Lightning Lane.

As Spring break crowds began pouring in, parade viewing spots and even more character meet and greets were added to Genie+’s lineup.

This new addition included Meet Disney Stars at Red Carpet Dreams in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where Guests can meet with Mickey Mouse in his sorcerer outfit, and Minnie Mouse in her pink ballgown.

For any Guests hoping to use Lightning Lane to meet Minnie and Mickey at Red Carpet Dreams, Friday the 13th is your unlucky day.

Beginning Friday, May 13, 2022, Meet Disney Stars at Red Carpet Dreams at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will no longer offer a Genie+ Lightning Lane option. If Guests wish to meet Sorcerer Mickey or Minnie in her ball gown, they will have to use the standby line.

Meet Disney Stars at Red Carpet Dreams will no longer offer Genie+ Lightning Lane.

By eliminating Genie +,we are heading down the correct path... remember, its not about money, they pay a lot to enter the parks, why do they have to pay more to ride, and why cant I just be spontaneous and have to plan my vacation,,, once im at Disney, i dont want to plan any more, i just want to go....

I think it's a ripoff that I spend thousands of dollars to fly from the other side of the country to come to Disney World and then I have to pay to ride certain Rides again in a timely fashion. not paying twice, I already paid to get in. how magical that you had to pay $15 to take a picture with sorcerer Mickey.

I think this is a good change. We were there last week and used lightning lane for this and I felt bad about it because these lanes already go so slowly and there were so many lightning lane people coming in that the standby lane barely moved. It was the only time Genie+ felt overpowered and like it was really worsening the experience of standby lane users. So yes, I think this is good!
