Many guests are experiencing frustration at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as some of the most popular rides aren’t running! Check out all the details here.
Causes for Ride Issues
Rides close for a number of reasons. Disney may need to perform extended maintenance so the ride closes for a refurbishment. This is very common, and in fact, sometimes those refurbishments are even extended. Expedition Everest is one such recent example of this!
Other times, a portion of a ride closes. Perhaps work on part of the attraction is needed, but closing the entire ride is not necessary. This is currently happening at Tower of Terror. We are seeing extremely high wait times as Disney closes some of the elevators.
Of course, weather and electric issues can affect attractions. Outdoor attractions will temporarily close if lightning is in the area or rain becomes too heavy. However, today, weather isn’t an issue and two of the most popular attractions aren’t operating.
Rise of the Resistance
Located at both Disney World and Disneyland, Rise of the Resistance is the E-ticket attraction in Galaxy’s Edge. It is some of the best work Imagineers have completed using some of the most coolest technology known to man. Rise of the Resistance is simply the best!
However, it is no stranger to technical issues requiring guests to evacuate. At times, the attraction doesn’t open for rope drop or may close down for periods during the day. The trackless rides are my (Susan) favorite, but they also have the most technical issues. And, today is no exception! Rise of the Resistance has been down most of the day!
However, we’ve seen windows where the ride is operating. If you’re at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Rise goes down, stalk My Disney Experience and head over there as soon as it reopens. Often, you’ll see wait times of 30 minutes of less then.
The Twilight Tower of Terror
Not only has Rise of the Resistance been down most of the day, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is also closed now! This ride can really back up due to Disney operating this ride at limited capacity.
Ripple Effect
As you can imagine, when popular rides aren’t running, this causes other attractions to have longer waits. This is especially true at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since there aren’t that many attractions to start with. Check out the picture above to see the crazy wait times.
