The Queen is the first British monarch to have a Platinum Jubilee so it’s a huge deal! She’s celebrating 70 years on the throne! Check out the festivities below:

Friday, 3 June – Friday starts out with a Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Saturday, 4 June – Members of the Royal Family attend the Derby at Epsom Downs horse race. Then, there’s a concert in front of Buckingham Palace featuring Diana Ross, Queen, Rod Steward, Sam Ryder, and Duran Duran.
Sunday 5 June – To end the weekend, a Platinum Jubilee Pageant takes places in front of Buckingham Palace. Here, there’s a tribute to the Queen’s reign, featuring Platinum Jubilee Pageant featuring military personnel, dancers, puppets of corgis, and a performance by Ed Sheeran.
Winning Dessert
According to BBC.com, Jemma Melvin was the Platinum Jubilee dessert winner. She created a lemon and Swiss roll amaretti trifle. She stated that she wants it to be “the people’s dessert.”
About 5,000 people entered the nationwide competition to create a new pudding to commemorate the Queen’s 70-year reign. Then, five finalists competed before a panel of expert judges in a show on BBC One.
EPCOT’s Tribute to the Queen
Throughout the long weekend pubs and restaurants celebrate throughout the United Kingdom. So, it’s only fitting the EPCOT’s United Kingdom restaurants celebrate as well. This weekend only, travel to The Rose and Crown and Yorkshire County Fish Shop to try a version of the winning dessert.
I (Susan) love that you can try it a quick service location! However, you need to be quick! It’s only here June 4-5! If you try it, please let us know what you think.
Does the dessert look appealing to you? Do you love celebrating in UK traditions? Please share your thoughts below or on our KtP Facebook group.
