You will not believe these photos of Tron Lightcycle Run. Walt Disney World Imagineers share the exciting new milestone reached for this attraction.
Tron Lightcylce Power Run
Tron Lightcycle Power Run roller coaster was first introduced to guests at Shanghai Disneyland Resort. In this thrilling attraction, riders hop aboard motorcycle-style ride vehicles as they speed through the dark ride.
It is all the more thrilling because it is one of the fastest indoor coasters in the history of Disney’s parks. The new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is only 39 mph while Tron is close to 60 mph. Last month, we shared a video for the initial ride vehicle testing. This video is nothing short of AMAZING!
New Update from Imagineers
Disney has not released a timeline for the completion of Tron. Guests continue to take in the construction progress aboard the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover attraction. You can see photos of this canopy construction and also work on the new train tunnel HERE.
Last week, guests visiting Magic Kingdom saw Tron hit a HUGE milestone when the outdoor canopy was illuminated. Now the Walt Disney World Imagineers at work on Tron give us an update on this new milestone.
Walt Disney Imagineering shared the following message on Instagram, “Imagineers on TRON Lightcycle / Run reached another project milestone at Magic Kingdom last week, with the start of show lighting testing at the attraction canopy. This curved-wave structure serves as the Upload Conduit to the Grid, where guests, known as Users, will race beneath on Lightcycles as they begin their competition.”
“In preparation for the race, the Show Lighting team is hard at work testing the system and programming more than 1,200 fixtures across the surface. The canopy and exterior plaza will be brought to life in the coming months as the project team continues uploading and integrating additional show elements.“
The photos shared of the illuminated canopy are simply breathtaking. We look forward to more information on this new attraction and an opening timeline.
