Calling all shark fans! You are not going to want to miss this year’s Sharkfest!
Sharkfest
If you love learning about what lurks beneath the ocean’s surface, then Sharkfest is right up your alley! For the past decade, National Geographic has brought shark fans the “must-sea” event of the summer: Sharkfest.
This year, National Geographic celebrates its tenth anniversary of Sharkfest. For those who are just learning of the event, Sharkfest is a dedicated series of programming surrounding the ocean’s most well-known predators–sharks!
Programming
Sharkfest 2022 will add over 30 hours of “fin-tastic” new program dedicated to sharks to over 100 hours of existing material. This exciting lineup includes Camo Sharks, a scientific look into whether sharks can change their coloring.
Fans will also be able to indulge in Sky Sharks, which is not about flying sharks (thank goodness). Instead, it explores how drones are revolutionizing shark research.
Next up, Game of Sharks is a special that sets out to determine which shark species is the real champion of the ocean. Fans will also be treated to ABC’s broadcast premiere of the very popular Shark Beach with Chris Hemsworth.
Even better, according to D23, Sharkfest has partnered with Minorities in Shark Sciences for the event. The goal is to promote diversity in the field and to inspire a new generation of future scientists who may not have envisioned themselves in such roles before!
When and Where to Watch Sharkfest
Fans will be able to sink their teeth into shark programming in more ways than ever before. Disney+, Hulu, ABC, ESPN, National Geographic, Nat Geo WILD, and Nat Geo MUNDO will all take part in Sharkfest!
Access for Sharkweek begins on July 10, 2022. Programming for this anticipated television event will last 4 “jaw-some” weeks!
A Thrilling Preview
Disney+ took to social media to bring fans a bite-sized preview of all there is to come. You can check it out right here!
